Great to be able to celebrate 25 years of Active Life Club with Raza Sadiq (pictured). Some thoughts from Paul Reddish OBE on what was a brilliant celebration, and also a opportunity for sport to rethink it's approach to partnership with community organisations, as a central pillar of racial inclusion in sport.
Celebration is important. But without a focus on learning from community led organisations, it's an opportunity missed

A recent BBC article explored why black sprinters have dominated athletics for decades. Some of the arguments constructed allow us to challenge that the answer lies in genetics and science, and explore the critical roots of the links between 'race' and certain sports. We've added some thoughts to the topic here. An interesting report today published by British Future and Spirit of 2012 on the role football can play in creating social cohesion in diverse communities, through a common love of football. Do you have any examples you can share of sports doing precisely that? Can sport be a leader in building cohesion and cultural competence in local communities ?
Report out today on a brilliant British Future project, 'Shared Goals', looking at the power of football clubs to bridge divides by building shared and inclusive local identity in the towns and cities where they're based. Great to work with British Future colleague Jake Puddle and Brentford Football Club + Huddersfield Town Football Club on this. Read the report here: https://lnkd.in/gfTGTefY

Looking forward to contributing to this. Amongst other things, we'll be discussing how culture, and cultural competence, is the next marginal gain in high performance coaching. As an Edinburgh resident, anything billed as on a par with the fringe is well worth a look! Hope to see some of my sport connections there!
