JSI staff supporting the USAID/Zambia-funded project DISCOVER-Health presented insightful data last week at #AIDS2024 on supporting the Zambian Ministry of Health with the introduction of long-acting injectable PrEP (CAB-LA) as another #HIV prevention choice for Zambians: ➡ “Of those that started CAB-LA, 30% were transitioning from oral PrEP to injectable PrEP, and the other 70% were PrEP naive clients. The fact that 70% of people had not been enrolled in PrEP at all tells us that we are reaching even more people with CAB-LA than with just oral PrEP.“ - Adamson NDHLOVU ➡ “We found that our CAB-LA PrEP continuation rates were just as good if not better than our oral PrEP continuation rates” - lackeby kawanga Learn more about this work: https://lnkd.in/esJB6w_Y Learn more about our international expertise in HIV: https://lnkd.in/ejgF_5EW #HIVprevention #PrEP #CABLA #HIV #PutPeopleFirst #Zambia International AIDS Society
Congratulations to USAID Zambia projects that presented new research at the 25th annual International AIDS Conference in Munich, Germany last week. Presentation topics ranged from the importance of peer-led HIV interventions to the scale up of the HIV prevention medication, PrEP, in Zambia. #AIDS2024 USAID and its partners play a critical role in expanding access to #HIV prevention services in #Zambia. Since the HIV prevention medication PrEP was introduced in 2018, USAID and its partners account for 55% of all PrEP initiations. Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia - CIDRZ
