An important reminder from the Eye Bank Association of America and the American Academy of Ophthalmology about #eyesafety as we head into the July 4th holiday. Here are their 5 tips to protect your #vision! 1. All those lighting fireworks AND bystanders should wear eye protection meeting the criteria set by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). 2. If attending a fireworks show, stay at least 500 feet away from where they’re being set off. 3. Do not let children light, handle, or play with fireworks. 4. Also use caution when using sparklers – at 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit, they can easily cause burns and fires. 5. If you sustain a firework injury to your eye, report immediately to an Emergency Room. Do not rub, rinse, apply pressure, or try to remove any object from your eye.
As we approach the 4th of July holiday, we remind you that fireworks can be dangerous! We join with American Academy of Ophthalmology in reminding you to practice eye safety as you celebrate! Use these 5 tips to protect your vision this Independence Day! https://lnkd.in/eadYr5hK

At Lions World Vision Institute we have staff members in 25 states across the width and length of the U.S., and we support #cornea surgeons around the world! Today we had our monthly LWVI Mission Connect, which keeps us focused on what's important - updates from each department, celebration of our donor families, and recognition of our incredible team including this month's EyeCon, an #employee who represents our company's mission and goals in the work they perform. The June LWVI EyeCon is Deborah Ferro, International Tissue Placement Coordinator. Here’s what her nominee said about Deborah: “Deborah is a great asset to our international distribution team. Not only does she represent us here, but was a great representation of our mission in South Africa when she attended the Ophthalmology Society of South Africa Conference. Deborah is a team player, willing to help not only her team, but other departments. She continues to grow within her role and develops #leadership skills.” #EmployeeEngagement #CorneaDonation #CorneaTransplant #Eyehealth #SoTheWorldCanSee
