The Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) Airport Remain Overnight (RON) Parking Apron project entails transforming the aging west general aviation apron into a commercial overnight parking apron for large aircraft, two taxiway connectors, and a service road connection. Referred to as a crucial infrastructure project for the airport, the RON apron will greatly enhance the airfield's overall effectiveness and efficiency. This achievement sets RDU up for future expansion and airline growth, fostering confidence and optimism about the airport's future. The outcomes of the RON project met the client’s expectations in carrying out the Vision 2040 master plan to meet the community’s increasing demand for air travel. The new 65,000 square yards of parking space will accommodate six Aircraft Design Group (ADG) III (i.e. 737) and two ADG V (i.e. 777) planes. #driventocare #aviation #airport #apron #parkingapron

Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) opened a newly expanded Ticketing Hall in April, doubling its queue space with an additional 10,000 square feet. The airport also remodeled and upgraded its 35,000-square-foot hall with new public restrooms, ticketing kiosks, wayfinding signage, and space for oversized baggage.  Read this article from AIRPORT IMPROVEMENT Magazine to understand how the project team determined the best option to expand, the new features, sustainable components, and more. RS&H was the lead engineer of the Crosstown Parkway Extension Design-Build project, the result of 40 years of planning for the third crossing of the St. Lucie River, alleviating traffic congestion and providing an additional hurricane evacuation route. This was a unique Local Agency Program (LAP) design-build project for the City of Port St. Lucie and FDOT District 4, led by the Archer Western (contractor) and the RS&H team. The project's highlights included a new 4,032-ft long bridge, 1.5 miles of roadway improvements, and an innovative superstreet intersection. The bridge’s signature design was complemented by extensive landscaping along Crosstown Parkway, creating the feeling of a park while providing noise reduction for nearby residences. The project also boasts sidewalks, bicycle lanes, and soaring towers at the bridge approaches featuring a tile mosaic with commissioned Guy Harvey artwork and bronze sculptures. The new six-lane divided highway and bridge now serve as a critical hurricane evacuation route, a multi-modal transportation alternative, and a recreation area that includes the waterfront Pineapple Snook Plaza, a trailhead to the Crosstown Parkway sidewalks, and an ADA-accessible canoe launch. The Crosstown Parkway Extension project achieves an ideal blend of form and function and has a meaningful impact on the sustainability of the infrastructure in Port St. Lucie.
