Check it out! We are proud to partner with Nextracker Inc. at the intersection of solar and farming ☀ 🌱
Nextracker Inc. has been supporting agriculture, ranching, and solar customers with a suite of AgriPV solutions that is highlighted in the attached video that features Yuri Horwitz; we have been demonstrating that solar and farming can be synergistic at our Center of Solar Excellence test facility for the last decade. We are pleased to sponsor the Solar Farm Summit, kicking off today in Chicago. Thank you American Farmland Trust for cosponsoring the summit. Our AgriPV applications address crop, pollinator, and livestock applications with initial projects fielded in Europe, the USA, and Canada. In Brazil our talented team built an AgriPV research project to evaluate how to optimize crop and livestock objectives in concert with solar power system operations. AgriPV is ramping with excitement, but it is still early days, with new applications being pioneered. We look forward to continuing to work with leading customers to make this model a win-win for farmers, ranchers, and solar power producers. Discover how City of Grand Rapids is leading the way in sustainability! 🌿✨ We're thrilled to partner with Grand Rapids on their journey to 100% renewable energy for all municipal operations in 2024 and 2025! This $250,000 investment in renewable energy credits (RECs) will make Grand Rapids the first city in Michigan to achieve this milestone. Key initiatives include developing a one-megawatt solar array at the Lake Michigan Filtration Plant, reducing electricity use, converting to LED street lighting, and exploring solar development at the Butterworth Landfill. We're proud to contribute to making Grand Rapids a greener city and setting a new standard for sustainability nationwide! 💚✨ #SustainableGR #RenewableEnergy #GreenCity #GrandRapids #CleanEnergyFuture #SolSystems
🌿 Exciting News from Grand Rapids! 🌿 The Fiscal Committee has greenlit contracts and payments totaling $250,000 to 3Degrees Group, Inc. and Sol Systems for the purchase of renewable energy credits (RECs) for 2024 and 2025 with the help of our consultant Foresight Management. This investment means Grand Rapids is set to achieve 100% renewable energy for all municipal operations during these years, making us the first city in Michigan—and one of the few in the U.S.—to hit this milestone! Our journey to 100% renewable includes: 🌿 Developing a one-megawatt solar array at the Lake Michigan Filtration Plant 🌿 Reducing overall electricity use 🌿 Converting to LED street lighting 🌿 Using our biodigester 🌿 Pursuing solar development at the Butterworth Landfill But what are RECs? The U.S. EPA defines a REC as a market-based instrument that represents the property rights to the environmental, social, and other non-power attributes of renewable electricity generation. RECs are issued when one megawatt of electricity is generated and delivered to the electricity grid from a renewable energy resource. Together, we're making Grand Rapids greener and setting a benchmark for cities nationwide! 💚✨ #SustainableGR #RenewableEnergy #GreenCity #GrandRapids #CleanEnergyFuture GR Office of Sustainability: https://lnkd.in/gwaYeyuA

Check it out! In our June 2024 Sol Purpose newsletter, our featured Infrastructure + Impact Spotlight Series written by Juliana Isaac features Sol System's partnership with American Farmland Trust (AFT).🌱 ☀️ Sol and AFT have teamed up to execute a milestone sponsorship agreement focused on Smart Solar initiatives. Smart Solar’s guiding principles minimize the environmental impacts of solar development while promoting ecosystem-focused practices at solar sites. Over the next four years, Sol will participate in a research partnership with AFT aimed at testing soil health and assessing the impact of beneficial vegetation in over 2000 acres of land. We are also piloting agrivoltaics, or the co-location of agriculture and solar, through the cultivation of Kernza, known for its ability to enhance soil stability and nutrition. These initiatives demonstrate that solar energy and land stewardship can coexist and promote ecosystem health from the ground up. At Sol Systems, we've seen firsthand how critical Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) are for advancing a sustainable future. However, the World Resource Institute (WRI) is considering proposals that could upend market-based solutions driving renewable energy adoption. These new rules could collapse the incentives driving the clean energy transition and impede the ability for companies to procure renewables. We urge all stakeholders to emphasize practical evidence and support frameworks that integrate carbon intensity into reporting, offer flexibility in emissions reduction claims, and reframe ‘additionality’ and ‘emissionality’ as a disclosure feature to allow for transparency and flexibility. Together, we can motivate the clean energy transition and achieve our climate goals. Download our comprehensive white paper for an in-depth look at how these policies could impact the clean energy transition. Join the conversation and help shape a sustainable energy future.
