This past Sunday marked the ninth anniversary of NASA’s New Horizons flyby of Pluto after an epic 9-year journey. On the morning of July 14, 2015, Southwest Research Institute’s Dr. Alan Stern (center), New Horizons principal investigator, was surrounded by the mission team as they viewed the first post-flyby images of Pluto. Stern continues to lead the spacecraft’s extended mission. New Horizons will continue gathering data over the next four to five years until it’s expected to leave the Kuiper Belt. #TBT #NewHorizons #Throwback Courtesy Bill Ingalls/NASA
