With HYDROVISION International just around the corner, we are excited to highlight Andrew Harwood, one of our dedicated Senior Environmental Scientists, who will be attending the conference this year. Andrew holds a BSc in Zoology from Edinburgh University and a PhD in Fish Ecology from the University of Glasgow. With over 20 years of consulting experience, Andrew has worked in ecosystems from the tropics to the Arctic Circle across North America, Asia, South and Central America, and Europe. Andrew has extensive experience in hydropower and aquatic ecosystem health, conducting studies on environmental flows, fish populations, and cumulative effects assessments. He excels in compiling and analyzing data on water quality, aquatic invertebrates, fish, and fish habitat to provide project-specific recommendations. His work includes developing environmental flow management plans, environmental effects assessments, baseline and long-term monitoring plans, and habitat compensation plans. Andrew's recent approval as an Accredited Assessor with the Hydropower Sustainability Alliance underscores his commitment to sustainability in hydropower. He is accredited to provide official assessments against the Hydropower Sustainability Standard, ensuring the highest standards in environmental management.
