Congratulations to Crystal Couch, CNA, for going above and beyond in her duties in the Behavioral Health Unit. She was nominated for a PETALS (Performing Exceptional Tasks and Lending Support) Award given to outstanding nurse aides. In her nomination, the patient said they had never been admitted anywhere like this unit and said Crystal’s patience and kindness meant a lot. After talking with Crystal at length, the patient decided to stay in the unit and get the care that she needed. Way to go, Crystal!

Congratulations to our phenomenal Surgical Services and Medical Practice Divisions for achieving the 2024 Carolina Care Recognition for top performance in Patient Experience! To receive this recognition, these services lines had to meet and maintain their top quartile performance metrics throughout fiscal year 2024. Our team was pleased to present these awards to the Blue Ridge Medical Group as well as the Surgical Services leadership team for going above and beyond in care for our community!

Our amazing teammates at UNC Health Blue Ridge came together to make a difference for some of Burke County's furriest residents! Thanks to their generosity, we were able to donate about 100 blankets to Burke County Animal Services. These cozy blankets will help keep animals warm and comfortable as they wait for their forever homes. Congrats to our newest Carolina Care Champion, David Hart, RN! David was nominated for "being such an empathic and compassionate nurse. There was an elderly lady, who was very embarrassed about having to get undressed and have a foley catheter placed. David was exceptionally kind and talked her through the entire thing from beginning to end, reassuring her that it was fine, and she was going to be okay. It was beautiful to see how he took the time to care for her as a person and not just a patient. It is such a pleasure to work alongside of him.” Thank you for going above and beyond in caring for our patients David!
