We believe there is a massive need for people to reconnect physically without a drop of fossil fuel or carbon dioxide, not being captured, so what path Sustainable Aviation takes is up to us providing the technology and fast.
Airbus VP, Zero Emission Aircraft, Glenn Llewellyn, recently sat down with our Founder and CEO, Val Miftakhov, and provided insights into the #ZEROe program activities, covering 3 main areas: developing the ecosystem (including delivering the large quantities of hydrogen needed at airports) and propulsion technology development (e.g., making fuel cell systems lighter and more power-dense), among a number of other topics.✈️ Check out the snippet in the video or hear from Glenn on what Airbus is working on underneath the ZEROe program here: https://lnkd.in/egwaaPi7 #zeroemission #hydrogen #aviation

One the best explanation and most informed explanations that I have heard on the route through pressurised hydogren through to liquid hydrogen. Well done to Cranfield Aerospace Solutions. Aviation is here to stay, we are not going to go back years in terms of reliance on surface transport. We are now part of connected world around which our entire economies rely. Protecting the planet has to be done with considered innovation, not sticking our head in the sand and acting like luddites.
The advantages of hydrogen-powered aircraft: Cranfield Aerospace Solutions presents the latest video in our engineering and technology series, focusing on the advantages of hydrogen-powered aircraft. Our Chief Strategy Officer Jenny Kavanagh dives into the benefits of hydrogen as a fuel source and explains why starting with gaseous hydrogen is crucial for entry-level applications, while liquid hydrogen holds the key to truly decarbonising aviation. Watch the video to find out why starting small is key to driving regulations required to understand how to use hydrogen as an aviation fuel in an airport, as well as in maintenance facilities and also in airline operations. #hydrogen #gaseoushydrogen #liquidhydrogen #aviation #hydrogenaviation #technology #futureflight #cleanerskies #zeroemissions #engineering #cranfieldaerospace

Airbus Tests Hydrogen-Fueled Glider in Blue Condor Campaign. Image: Blue Condor A800-H2 turbojet Credit: Guy Norris/AWST Airbus has initiated its Blue Condor flight test campaign to study hydrogen's impact on contrail formation. The project uses the Arcus-J, a modified glider powered by a hydrogen-fueled turbojet, to explore how hydrogen propulsion can reduce aviation emissions and environmental impact. https://lnkd.in/d6Sy6wuP As part of Airbus' broader mission to achieve zero-emission aviation by 2035, the campaign focuses on the relationship between hydrogen-powered flight and contrail formation, aiming to inform future aircraft designs and sustainability strategies. https://lnkd.in/dK-6wXti

I have written many times before the pioneering work that Airbus is doing in developing hydrogen fuel based aircraft solutions to decarbonize aviation via their ZEROe program. It's one thing sharing aircraft concepts and designs, but operating airplanes is a massively complex jigsaw. A key part of the operations in the airport and fueling process. To research on this and develop workable solutions, a consortium led by the Airbus ZEROe team, has now launched the GOLIAT program (Ground Operations of LIquid hydrogen AircrafT). They have received funding from the European Commission (again, very progressive indeed) and the project will demonstrate, over 4 years, how high-flow liquid hydrogen (LH2) handling and refuelling technologies can be developed and used safely and reliably for airport operations. Here's wishing the team the very best to tackle this Goliath of humanity's very existence. Earth and our future grandkids are rooting for you... PS: More details in the comments below. #aviation #sustainability #hydrogen

The results of a European study into the impact of a widebody jet flown with 100% sustainable aviation fuel show a substantial 56% reduction in the number of contrail ice crystals produced by unblended SAF compared to Jet A-1 fuel, reports Tony Harrington for GreenAir News. The project, involving Airbus, Rolls-Royce, the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and SAF producer Neste, was the third stage of the Emission and Climate Impact of Alternative Fuels (#ECLIF) programme, with in-flight and ground emissions tests taking place in 2021. They worked together to quantify the reduction in engine soot particles produced by a Rolls-Royce powered Airbus A350 fuelled by Neste and trailed by a DLR research aircraft. In certain weather conditions, airborne vapour freezes around soot particles emitted by aircraft engines, creating cloudy canopies of ice crystals which can trap heat in the atmosphere. #sustainableaviation #sustainableaviationfuel #aviationnonco2 Mark Pilling Christiane Voigt Hartwig Hagena Mark Bentall Alexander Kueper Alan Newby Philippe Gmerek Falk Dambowsky Heiko Stolzke Matteo Mirolo Florian Allroggen Steven Barrett Vincent de Haes Carlos López de la Osa Dimitar Nikov Marc Shapiro Jason Taylor Estuaire Jonathon Counsell Adam Durant International Air Transport Association (IATA) Marie Owens Thomsen Jill Blickstein Andrew Chen Dr. Alejandro Block Hemant Mistry Sarah Wilkin Roger Gardner https://lnkd.in/eD357-ap
