We recently joined an event aimed at consulting with Aboriginal community-controlled organisations (ACCOs) across SA. We wanted to dive into a few key things: -Figuring out what's working well and what's strong in the ACCO sector right now. -Hearing about where ACCOs want to go in the future and who they want to team up with. -Finding out what's helping or holding back the growth and lasting power of the ACCO scene. We had Bill from KSJ Consulting Service facilitate the session, a totally Aboriginal-run business, who are leading workshops all over the state. We encourage all ACCOs in South Australia to jump in and share their thoughts in this vital process. Your input is super important because it'll help in two big ways: -Shaping a government framework that'll guide agencies on how to better connect with ACCOs and pump more funding into the sector ("the Framework"). -Helping craft an ACCO sector Strategic Plan that'll map out where the sector's at now and what areas need to grow and get stronger ("the ACCO sector Strategic Plan"). There are still some workshops to attend until engagement closes on 24th May so get involved and find out more by visiting our website: https://lnkd.in/gHi2KdpA #arabana #ACCO #KSJconsulting #workshops #engagement #consultancy

IPAA Queensland invites our members and partners to be challenged at our exclusive 2024 Irene Longman Oration event taking place on Wednesday 20th November, supported by our major partner Holding Redlich. Don’t miss the opportunity to hear from our distinguished speaker Professor Helen Sullivan FIPAA, Dean ANU College of Asia and the Pacific. Collaboration is embedded in the pursuit of public purpose – between and across tiers and spheres of government, with private, not for profit, and community actors, and through market and network instruments. Collaboration came of age in the late 20th century, a consequence of changed global conditions and sweeping public administration reforms that re-shaped policy and practice. Until now. The current global instability, the uneven legacy of reform and the emergence/persistence of public policy challenges suggests we need a new approach. The Irene Longman Oration is a timely opportunity to think about where we are and to draw inspiration from Irene’s preparedness to challenge the status quo to consider how we can shape what comes next. The Irene Longman Oration is an exclusive, invite-only event on IPAA Queensland’s annual calendar, with individual members able to attend this event for free as part of their membership. Keen to secure your seat? Check out the event details on the IPAA Queensland website now and join. https://lnkd.in/gi7iDdBM #ipaainsights #ipaaqld2024 #keepinformed #buildconnections #challengeyourthinking #collaboration #government

A few weeks ago, Stefan Patrick Seifert and I represented Penbrothers at the Contact Center Association of the Philippines (CCAP) General Membership & Year-End Thanksgiving event. We are thrilled to share that Penbrothers has officially been inducted as a CCAP member! 🎉 Our President, Gabrielle Pratte also attended the event. It is important for us to join CCAP and be part of like-minded business leaders pushing the Filipino contact center and offshoring companies forward - uplifting the quality and protecting the integrity of our industry. 💡 What this means for us: Through CCAP’s incredible network of over 4,000 top-tier professionals, Penbrothers can connect businesses with some of the best talent out there. This partnership strengthens our ability to help companies find the perfect match while opening doors for Filipino talent to thrive globally. 💡 Why this matters: The Philippines has always been home to exceptional talent — hardworking, skilled, and creative individuals who bring so much value to every opportunity. With CCAP, we can help bring those talents into the spotlight, supporting businesses while elevating careers. It’s a win-win for everyone. For me, talent acquisition is about building bridges—between people, businesses, and opportunities. It’s about creating a future where Filipino professionals are not just participants but leaders in the global workforce. I’m so excited about what this partnership can do, not just for Penbrothers, but for the future of Filipino talent. 💬

It’s been 8 enlightening weeks of learning, unlearning and relearning at the Rising Tide Africa Board Readiness Programme. I met some really amazing ladies and facilitators like Yvonne Ogunoiki Mary Akpobome Cecilia Akintomide Tinuade Awe, M.CIoD Hetty Ugboh Foluso Phillips Dr. Olayemi Dawodu Bashirat Odunewu Fola Akinrinlola Omobola Johnson I’ld like to leave you with a few #nuggets: 1. Board membership is not a full time job but it is a full time responsibility (Tinuade Awe) 2. White spaces are where risks and opportunities lie (Mr Foluso Phillips) 3. The committee is the kitchen of the Board (Cecilia Akintomide) 4. A director’s oversight is nose-in, fingers-out (Cecilia Akintomide) 5. The boardroom is a place of intense power and intense vulnerability (Cecilia Akintomide) 6. A board member’s posture should be one of a coach (Cecilia Akintomide) 7. Sustainability is about holding something in trust for the future/next generation (Ivana Osagie) 8. A director is the custodian and guardian of the organisation (Hetty Ugboh) 9. Manage your expectations; be prepared to start small (Dr Mobola Johnson) And of course the boardroom simulation chaired by Bashirat Odunewu brought everything to life. Thanks Ivana I. One of the tasks I really enjoy as part of my work with IPAA Queensland is crafting our monthly Insights. Between Andrew Wills, Vendula Habrova and I, we put together the latest on insights on what is happening in the public sector, and share details on the events happening on our calendar. If you are in the sector, and haven't subscribed - you should (you can do it on the IPAA Queensland website...nudge nudge). This month, I had the pleasure of crafting a little paper on success and failure in policy, and how to fail forward with flair (see link below). This paper was inspired by Josh Richards - our fabulous keynote who spoke at our major flagship event a few weeks ago. His personal narrative had me thinking about the importance of the little details and how much they matter. And - while Josh's context was more-than-a-little different to what public servants face on the daily (anyone here done any prep for travelling into deep space...I know I haven't!), the fundamental concept of details being important rings true across the contextual divide. As I wrote in the paper... "...those in the public service know that the consequences of not paying attention to the details can lead to pretty devastating results. When it comes to designing and implementing policy, the focus on not only the objective, but the process itself is key..." So in light of this, I took a quick look at what the literature says about policy success and failure...and like all things, it isn't only the objective that matters...but how you go about achieving that objective. Ultimately, it isn't necessarily what you do that is the only thing that matters, but how you go about doing it. #publicpolicy #success #failure #process #details I also get the sneaky sense that this narrative probably applies to contexts beyond the public sector and deep space travel preparation too...?? https://lnkd.in/gYszBpfX

7 weekends spent at the Rising Tide Africa Board Readiness Program remains one of the highlights of my year 2024. Having interacted with several boards in secretarial and managerial capacity over the course of my career - I was eager to sharpen my expertise in this area and it was an excellent investment. I’m continuing to implement my learnings from the sterling faculty and my amazing colleagues on the program. My summary take aways below: 1. How Boards Work - Tinuade Awe, M.CIoD shared important insights on implementing the RAFTE principles of Corporate Governance (Responsibility, Accountability, Fairness, Transparency and Ethics) for Boards especially in the African context. 2. Strategy and the Board - Foluso Phillips expertly explained the 3x3 framework for effective & strategic decision making (Organizational level, Process Level, Job performance Level). 3. Understanding Board Dynamics - Cecilia Akintomide skillfully shared strategies on navigating the 4Rs (Right People, Right Purpose (Vision & Goals) , Right Tools, Right Tone (Communication & Accountability). 4. Sustainablity & ESG in the Board Room - Ivana I. Osagie - shared valuable insights on this hot topic for Boards, and the importance of establishing a materiality matrix outlining areas of focus based on what’s important to a company and also to it’s critical stakeholders to drive it’s sustainability agenda. 5. Board Meeting Simulation - Bashirat Odunewu - ably chaired this session to put our learnings to practice and I learnt the importance of emotional intelligence in the Boardroom. 6. Securing your first Board Seat - Omobola Johnson - left me with the importance of following your passions, genuine interests and areas of competence to ensure that I will truly add value on any boards I serve. Contributions from amazing participants made the sessions more interesting and rewarding: Yemi Keri, Oyiza Salu FCIPM,Dr. Olayemi Dawodu, Fola Akinrinlola, Dolapo Kukoyi, Mary Akpobome. I regrettably missed Hetty Ugboh’s session on Finance & Risk Management as I had to be away on a trip. Thanks Oyiza Salu FCIPM for the nugget from this. Thanks to Ivana I. Osagie, Yemi Keri and the Rising Tide Africa team for putting it all together!
