Now, I need to teach it," - Zainab (dialogue facilitator in the Grassroots Conflict Prevention in Sri Lanka (GRACE) project) Zainab, a twenty-one-year-old preschool teacher from Pudukkudirppu, engages as a dialogue facilitator in the Grassroots Conflict Prevention in Sri Lanka (GRACE) project. The project, funded by the European Union and implemented by World Vision, aims to promote social cohesion and harmony through transformed relationships between communities in the North-Western and Western provinces of Sri Lanka. "I made many friends, but it was hard to break the cultural boundaries of our Muslim community and mix with the larger society. As the only girl in my family, we are expected to stay home and do housework. Stepping beyond this often caused conflict in the community. So, my first dialogue was with my family." As a preschool teacher, Zainab was able to apply her learnings to her profession as well. "Parents are happy to have someone they can rely on. There are many hidden issues affecting children due to economic and political instability in Sri Lanka. Parents often can't afford basic needs, and children come to school hungry, sometimes collapsing on the playground. This causes conflicts and violence in families and society, with children as the direct victims. I believe mutual dialogue can help solve these issues. This is what I discuss with the parents. Good news! Aflatoun International and the Nepal Federation of Savings and Credit Cooperative Unions Limited (NEFSCUN) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work together and empower youth across #Nepal. Through this new #Partnership, we aim to reach 50.000 young people in secondary schools in the country, collaborating with cooperatives as well as with the #Ministry of #Education. A Training of Trainers is already planned to happen soon, to start #TransformingEducation and advance #Social and #FinancialEducation! #JoinTheMovement

Visiting Nguli Primary School in Chief Tsabango's area, Lilongwe, Malawi, I was struck by the familiar challenges facing quality education: overcrowding, inadequate teacher numbers, technology gaps, nutrition issues, low parent involvement, and early marriages/teen pregnancies. To achieve Vision 2030 and SDG4, more needs to be done, and quickly. While governments are making efforts, progress is slow. It's time for the private sector to step up and help address these critical obstacles as Education is a fundamental tool for development and equality. Today we are celebrating #WorldWaterDay 💦 In Uganda, over 19 million people lack clean water close to home, while 49% of Zambia's rural population relies on unsafe water sources. These challenges disproportionately impact the rural and vulnerable communities that PEAS works in. PEAS schools are constructed with boreholes to ensure students and teachers have easy access to safe and clean water. PEAS schools share access to their boreholes with the local community. This not only expands access to safe water but also fosters positive relationships between the school and its community. Positive community relationships are vital for PEAS schools.
