Election Day is coming in BC on October 19th and we need your vote! Over 815,000 British Columbians participate in amateur sport, but we haven’t seen an increase to core funding sport since 2010. Add your voice @SportBC’s campaign for health, connection and community and let’s work together to close the funding gap for sport. In addition to physical and other health and wellness benefits, participation in support also supports our province’s economic growth. In fact, some of these benefits include: ● Contributions to domestic and international #tourism (sport activirty drives $1.2B in GDP!) ● Creates job opportunities (there will be >9,200 job openings in sport by 2032) ● Improves employee productivity and reduces absenteeism Share Sport BC’s campaign and add your voice today: https://lnkd.in/g9GRcYkj #SportBC #PoweringSport

I am weighing in, again... I'd rather see a sermon, than hear one, any day! Our actions (or inaction) can reveal more about our true nature and beliefs than our words. The government can harness the potential of sport to drive sustainable development, create economic opportunities and foster a sense of community and identity, by adopting a more serious and strategic approach to sport. This commitment is essential for transforming our country into a sustainable, thriving community where sport plays a central role in shaping a better future. Actions! Below is an excerpt from the St. Kitts and Nevis National Sport Policy.

CSSC joins over 200 organisations, from across the UK’s Health and Fitness sector, in calling on all parties to commit to policies and actions that address the appalling and deteriorating state of health and fitness in the U.K. 2023 saw record levels of sickness absence and the NHS is at breaking point under the demands it faces. Govt, of whichever persuasion, needs cut the rhetoric and deliver resourced action. We need a population that is ‘Up, Out & Active’. Govt and Employers need to collaborate to encourage and assist our communities, our population, our children, our colleagues and ourselves to get active. It’s good for you….it’s good for your family….it’s good for the community…..it’s good for employers…it’s good for the economy & country. Please Share. ukactive #HealthandWellbeing #MyCSSC
Today’s call to the party leaders to make the UK the most active nation in Europe, forms part of the #TakeTheLead campaign that is led by the National Sectors Partners Group – ukactive, Sport and Recreation Alliance, Youth Sport Trust, CIMSPA, Active Partnerships, Sport for Development Coalition. The UK lags behind many of our European neighbours for physical activity levels and this campaign calls on our political leaders to realise the opportunity within our sector to help boost the economy, ease the burden on the NHS and keep the nation active and healthy.

Today we were in Brussels to talk to the cabinets of the minister-president Matthias Diependaele and Annick De Ridder. We talked about the importance of Special Olympics for persons with IDD. How does Special Olympics work? They are so much more than a sports organization. How do we convince our government to help us, help Special Olympics? I hope that we can be the spokesman. Special Olympics makes them listen to us. We're up to more meetings with more ministers in 2025. Supplementum actiones 💪💪💪 Thumbs up 👍 #inclusionrevolution #SpecialOlympics

Sharing cuz my thoughts are very much aligned to this and couldn’t have said it better. A few extracts from the article I connected with very much: - We in Sri Lanka have for far too long lived in the false notion that all the amazing natural gifts that Sri Lanka is blessed with can alone take us on a journey that will make us the envy of the world…. - ……..Whilst we have been unfortunate to have had leaders who were unashamedly corrupt, we have lived in the false notion that all ills of our nation are the result of corruption of officials, forgetting the fact that we have for years been content with allowing our politicians to spend more than the Treasury collects and import beyond the country’s capacity. We as a nation have for far too long expected the government to be the driver of investment, employment and growth rather than demanding for policies that create an effective environment for private entrepreneurship to thrive and contribute towards national success - It is my belief that this election is an opportunity to build on the successful post crisis stabilization of the economy. To build on the success of a process and journey that has been validated and applauded globally - Most importantly it is an opportunity to ensure that corrections made to Sri Lanka’s decade long policy errors are strengthened and not reversed. - This is an election that will either enable us to stay the course of economic revival or deviate once again in the belief that a messiah or fringe theories can deliver success
