PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A SLIP LOCAL!!! If you or a loved one live in Grove City, PA or surrounding areas, please for your own sanity and safety, look into CEASRA. They are a nonprofit local group who have been working long hours to prevent Tri-County landfill from receiving a permit to dump radioactive waste. The landfill was granted on March 10th a permit to dump 65,000 daily gallons of radioactive leachate into Black Run/Wolf Creek. Last summer during the "Summary Judgment" part of an appeal lead by CEASRA, both DEP and TCL adamantly denied any plans to dump the radioactive landfill leachate into Black Run, a tributary to Wolf Creek, stating instead it would have to be tankered away to Vogel's Seneca Landfill. This tributary flows through the Big Rail Brewery then south through Keystone Safari, where endangered and extinct (in the wild) animals drink from the stream, and children play near the creek on the zip line.m. That creek then flows north and eventually reaches Wolf Creek. The DEP is not requiring TCL to test for radioactivity in this fracking waste leachate. According to the DEP's own 2016 TENORM study, Vogel's Seneca Landfill is dumping "treated" leachate effluent into the Connoquenessing Creek at a radium-226 level of 118 pico-curies. The drinking water limit for radium-226 is 5 pico-curies. Somebody downstream will be drinking this water (Wolf Creek flows into Slippery Rock Creek, Connoquenessing, Beaver, then the Ohio River). Radium-226 lasts for 1,600 years. The DEP gave TCL a waste permit in December 2020. But because of the appeal from Liberty Township and CEASRA filed in January 2021, TCL has not yet been able to open and start bringing in the radioactive fracking waste. Which is a good thing. Did you know over 2 million people in the U.S. lack access to clean and safe drinking water? Through Impact on the Road, our goal was to bring light to this issue and highlight our nonprofit partners who are working day in, day out on solutions for this issue. Water is life. Water is a human right. Check out our Impact on the Road recap video and visit Liquid I.V.'s Impact on the Road webpage: https://lnkd.in/gZ-YqzGa to learn more about the organizations working to ensure water security for all. What a road it's been bringing this project to life, and it's amazing to finally see it LIVE!
Water. It’s one of our most basic needs, and important resources. At Liquid I.V. we believe that a healthier world begins with equitable access to clean and abundant water. And yet, over 2 million people in the U.S. lack access to clean and safe drinking water. 💧🌎 Confluence – our signature clean water initiative – is out to change that by providing grants and other support to leaders and organizations engaged in efforts to ensure water security for all. This includes organizations such as The Center For Water Security and Cooperation, Community Water Center, Heal the Bay, Hispanic Access Foundation, Waterkeeper Alliance, and WE THE PEOPLE OF DETROIT. To raise awareness about domestic water access, Impact Ambassadors – Candice Kalb and Christine Lozada - hit the road to connect face-to-face with organizations and community leaders nationwide who are helping solve some of America’s most pressing water issues. 🤝 They traveled through the heartland of America, from Los Angeles to Washington D.C., capturing inspiring stories of changemakers in the water space. Check out this recap video with highlights of Impact on the Road. ️⬇ https://lnkd.in/ggkMSbf9

CalPERS and CalSTRS —collectively representing $780 billion and 2.5 million members—must act on their fiduciary duty and responsibly phase out fossil fuel holdings. Good read here from my colleague Lindsay Meiman w/ Stand.earth and Shana DeClercq with Fossil Free California . "California taxpayers shouldn’t have to foot the bill for billions of dollars in damages—wildfires wiping out entire communities, toxic smoke clogging our air, deadly heat waves, record-breaking droughts parching our wells. With this lawsuit, California is taking action to hold big polluters accountable and deliver the justice our people deserve." say Governor Newsom. So why are California's biggest pension staying invested in the same companies that their state is suing? #sb252 #divestment Lena A. Gonzalez, MBA #oilandgas https://lnkd.in/gtMf5gbX

Do you ever wish our cities and municipalities were greener? Or that kids in local schools had more access to environmental education? What about resources for community members who want to do their part to protect our planet? Piedmont Environmental Alliance is the triad's largest coalition of environmental advocates who are working to do just that! Together with our members, we are accomplishing BIG things. Just recently, we have helped to... ✔️ Pass city and countywide resolutions to reach 100% renewable energy by 2050. ✔️ Pass an unanimous school board resolution in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County schools to fully integrate sustainability into both the curriculum and operations. ✔️ Enlist 15 local businesses to take action to reduce their carbon footprint, reduce landfill waste, and help us inspire our community to be more sustainable. ✔️ Build a coalition of advocates who are working within committees across the Triad to advocate for greener policies and practices. Want to stand with us in these efforts? Become a member of PEA today with a gift of $35 or more, and get a free sticker to show your commitment to our efforts to build a more sustainable triad ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gXTGjWUS #piedmonttriad #sustainability #winstonsalem
