Today is #WorldBloodDonorDay We know for some the significance may not mean much but for others, a decision to donate blood could literally save a life. Especially in communities with limited access to health care, plagued with chronic illness, or a drastic lack of donors in the area to meet the need. Blood is needed every 2 seconds for the treatment of accident victims, cancer patients, hemophiliacs, surgery patients, and more - but only 37 % of our country's population is eligible to give blood, and less than 10 % of those who can donate actually do donate annually HOW CAN YOU HELP? 🩸 Donate blood today. And plan recurring donations. 🩸 Encourage a friend to donate as well. 🩸 Can’t donate blood? Donate your time or funds to a local org You can also become a CERTIFIED life-saver as a highly trained #phlebotomist 🩸 ETM provides invaluable #phlebotomy training. The next cohort starts this fall; enrollment ends July 9. #swipeleft to learn more + apply today!

Fundraising to support cancer patients through treatment with free gifts & wellbeing events - Chief Happiness Officer
Hearing first - hand more and more stories when doing our work The Lewis Foundation UK from hospital staff, patients and their families about the financial struggles being experienced following a cancer diagnosis. People having to make tough choices about what they can afford such as paying the bills over eating correctly and purchasing the essential products needed to help them following a diagnosis. This has a knock effect on an individual’s health, which can impact the effectiveness of their treatment. Sometimes meaning people will end up in hospital, which could have been avoided if they had the means to eat and purchase the items to help with the side effects of treatment. We continue to provide a range of pack choices for FREE to the hospitals we support to ensure people have access to items such as dry skin creams, hydration packs and more. We want to make sure that people can access something they specifically want and need that is their choice, with means not being a barrier to access. Thank you for continuing to support the work we do to help make a patient’s life a little bit easier and more comfortable. Want to get involved in our mission to help cancer care: Make a one-off donation or becoming a regular donor. One gift pack cost £3.60, a low- cost way to make a huge impact in someone's lives. All shapes and Sizes! Did you know Breast Cancer is the most common cancer that affects both Men and Women in the UK? Almost 400 men in the UK are diagnosed yearly along with around 55,000 women. It is a cruel illness which has had an impact on all of us in one way or another. ‘Against Breast Cancer’ fund research for new treatments, tools for a sooner diagnosis and advice to lessen the risk of the disease spreading and/or reoccurring. They are aiming to excel the survival rate and discover a miracle vaccine. To do this, they need all the donations they can! This year, P J Harte Ltd are doing what they can to help raise funds by donating and recycling bras both old and new, wired, non-wired, padded, non-padded, all shapes and sizes! Altogether we gathered almost 100 bras. An amazing effort from the entire team. For every tonne of bras collected, ‘Against Breast Cancer’ is given £700 for further research! They can be recycled all year round so rummage through your drawers, find your local Bra Bank and donate what you can. #AgainstBreastCancer #BreastCancerAwareness #BreastAware #ChestAware #AwarenessMatters #BreastCancerInMen #BreastCancerInWomen #BreakTheSilence

Cancer sucks. And rare cancer is sadly & horribly not that rare. While one in three cancer diagnoses in Australia are rare or less common, they contribute to over half of all cancer deaths. Approximately 52,000 Australians are diagnosed with a rare or less common cancer each year – that’s one person every 10 minutes. Some 25,000 people lose their lives – that’s 69 people each day. On Saturday, 16 March 2024 I’ll be hiking to the top of Mt Kosciuszko to raise funds & awareness for rare, less common and complex cancers as part of the Rare Cancers Australia annual #KosiChallenge Every dollar raised will go towards funding: ➕ Personalised support, information and guidance ➕ Access to treatment, specialists and services ➕ Emergency funding for patients in need I hope to personally raise $1,000 to contribute to the Rare Cancers Australia goal of $750,000. I would love to have your help to do this! All donations are 100% tax deductible! Here’s the link. https://lnkd.in/gRK2G9B6
