Ok, seriously, E.L.F is one of my favorite brands to watch for how they position themselves and market their products. While knowing your audience is one of the first concepts you learn and need to master as a marketer, I find so that so many brands overlook or underestimate the power of knowing their customers. My take on E.L.F. BEAUTY is that they not only know and understand their market, but they also know who THEY are as a company and brand. Knowing your audience goes both ways; you need to know them, and they need to know you. Looking forward to following E.L.F and seeing where they go from here!

5 things you can learn from how Bacardi + Nike Communications, Inc. partner with + empower creators of all backgrounds. So grateful to have been able to build the long-term relationship with multi-talented dancer, host, and AAPI advocate @sheelaawe X Bacardi over the past 9 months through the Carta Collective. Here's how this team is doing it differently: 1. It's a LONG-TERM partnership formed around aligned values. 2. They prioritize building a real relationship, not a transactional one by making the time to check in on video calls throughout the entire partnership. 3. They care about Sheela outside of the program - they reached out to be integrated into Sheela's Lunar New Year MIXer. Again it's the authentic relationship that made Sheela feel supported and seen. 4. They build a community of like-minded creators that are now friends, collaborators, and Bacardi stans through the Carta Collective long-term program. 5. They create COOL creator-centric IRL experiences. Sheela went to Gov Ball and the VMA's this past year and they are programming and elevating even more for 2024. Creating programming thinking about "is this something creators will actually enjoy" is super impactful. Now we’re not talking about shutting down Trafalgar square, but we are talking small-scale intimate affairs that provide you with the opportunity to show journalists: ⚡ Your brand's story 💡 What you do 🙌 What you stand for We did this with modern spectacle makers Cubitts. To build strong relationships with key design, fashion, and lifestyle journalists we crafted a series of spectacle-making workshops. Hosted by Cubitts’ founder and accompanied by its team of spectacle makers, journalists absorbed key themes such as the founder’s inspiration for design, the brand’s mission and values, and of course the the spectacle making process. The workshops aimed to create a memorable experience through the making of their very own bespoke frames - all while providing a really interactive experience. Every story has a start, a middle, and an end... When brands use storytelling, they often don't introduce their brand assets until towards the end. However, most online ads capture only a few seconds of attention, often at the beginning. If a story takes 20-seconds to go from start to end, it stands to reason that you need more than a second or two of attention to tell that story. At heed, we advise brands to demand attention for that reason. As Graham Deneys of dentsu said at our Sounds of Salience event recently - longer attention drives higher mental availability and brand recall. heed delivers the highest attention media in the industry - attention leads to recall and a huge increase in the metrics that matter to brands. I absolutely love this 30 sec Snickers "Betty White" commercial which ran during the SuperBowl in 2010. However, for the first 18 seconds of the ad, there is no mention of the Snickers brand....... Who should you collab with as a brand...? 🤔 What indicators should you look for...? 💭 The Coca-Cola Company and Marvel Entertainment have always been great with their collaborations. The Coca-Cola FEMSA and Deadpool Vs Wolverine collaboration series ain't an expectation. Coca-Cola has also always been mostly good with their design. This collab, once again, ain't an exception to that.... 📺 Let's see what's working so well with this collaboration series: 1. Both Marvel and Coke have the same brand colour - red. 2. Both of them have a very similar target audience 3. Both do well at the movie theatres 4.
