In December, instead of sending Christmas cards, I am going to run the equivalent of 3 (yes three!!!!) marathons, to hopefully raise a penny or two for three charities that mean something to me because of things that have happened to friends over the last 12 months. So for those that need, that will be running 78.6 miles over the next 31 days, or around 2.54 miles a day. For those on metric, it’s 126.5 kilometres over the next 31 days or around 4.08 kilometres a day. I am going to do it in miles as there are fewer of them I think. If you are thinking of sending anyone, including me, a Christmas card, please think about making a donation to one of these (or a charity the means something to you) instead. A stamp is £1.65, plus the cost of the card, that’s just a £2.00 donation instead The charities I have chosen are Victoria’s Promise, Cruse Bereavement Support and Pancreatic Cancer UK Victoria’s Promise is a charity here dedicated to support young women through cancer and beyond. If you want to donate to them, please click here https://lnkd.in/eAGrdZu8 Pancreatic Cancer UK strive to go above and beyond for everyone affected, increasing research, support and making noise about this ruthless disease. If you want to donate to them, please click here https://lnkd.in/eTjdgAWP Cruse Bereavement Support are there to help people through what can be the most painful time in their life. Setting goals doesn’t have to be just about work. Personal goals are also important and can be much more rewarding 👏 I set myself a challenge in August that I would cycle 2000km on my spin bike (in the garage) during September to raise money for Macmillan . This is the equivalent of cycling form Leeds to Gibraltar (as the crow flies) and would mean that I should be cycling 65km per day for 30 days. The thing is, I’ve only ever managed 50km in one cycle before so this really was a stretching target. What did I achieve/learn: * I pushed every day to do more than my target of 65km * I managed to do 100km on day 2 * I achieved my fundraising target by day 6 💰 * I took advice from my supporters * This was needed and Chamois Cream is 🤩 * I kept everyone up to date with progress *This helped with support and motivation *Also prevented loads of Individual updates * I achieved 128km in one day *My longest cycle ever 🥇 * I didn’t have a rest day for 23 days *I stretched myself to finish earlier *I did plenty of stretching every day * I kept going for the other 7 days *You can drink more wine 🍷 *I was burning at least 1500 calories a day I’m fortunate that I currently have the time to dedicate to exercise and personal challenges. I loved smashing my goals and had some great fun pitching me against me to get the end result. If you’d like to donate to Macmillan and support my challenge, please use the link below 🙏

Friday, 24 January 2025, is going to feel like a very long day. I've been a Crusaders season ticket-holder for 14 years, ever since I moved back from London. Over that period the Crusaders won 7 more titles (14 in total!), so it has been a pretty good run. They also seem to have improved off the park, becoming increasingly involved in the community and raising money for a number of different youth charities. One of the cool things they do started a few years ago, when their Academy Manager, Aaron Webb, ran 102km around Malvern and Rugby parks to raise money for the Child Cancer Foundation. Loads of people heard about it and started running with him, and it has become an annual event, getting bigger and better every year. In a fit of enthusiasm, I have signed up to be part of a big Anderson Lloyd team running in the 2025 event. Collectively we, along with loads of other teams, will be trying to run as many 1km laps as possible between 6am and 6pm. Perhaps naively, I have put myself on the block to run the full 12 hours. I have never tried a timed event like this, and I am definitely not at my fittest, so I don't know how far I will get. What I do know, is that it is going to hurt! But it is not just a running / walking / hobbling / crawling event – it is a huge day, with loads of runners, supporters, food trucks, Crusaders and Matatū team events etc. It is going to be a super fun day – so if you are around, come down to Rugby Park and get amongst it. Come and see us at the Anderson Lloyd tent, cheer us on, meet the players, even run a lap or two if you're keen. And it is also an event to raise money for the Child Cancer Foundation. The goal is for everyone running to make it around 25,000 laps, while raising $250,000. Neither of those things are easy. And one of them is actually really meaningful. So while I won't ask you to donate (as I hate doing that), if you want to chip in, you can do so here (https://lnkd.in/gaG8BYGK). *And to be clear – I checked – the Child Cancer Foundation is AGAINST child cancer. If you're on the other side of that issue, do not donate, this is not for you.

Thank you, thank you, thank you all that have contributed and helped me not only reach but surpass my fundraising goals so quickly! Together we have raised: 🚴♂️ $236 for American Heart Association's 100 Mile Bike Challenge - Achieving 131% of the Fundraising Goal 🏊♂️ $200 for American Cancer Society's 10 Mile Swim Challenge - Achieving 110% of the Fundraising Goal I always like to overdeliver on client projects by smashing the paid-media result benchmarks, but this time the round of applause does not go to the Advocaczi team, the recognition goes to all of you for helping me spread awareness and putting your hard dollars to work for an incredible cause! As promised (and requested by many) from the start, I will be sharing my Endurance Challenge pacing ever week, and so far my stats are as follows: - Cycled 74.96 Miles as of June 17th so I've reached ~75% of the target in 56% of the Month, it's going great! - Swam 2 Miles as of June 17th so I've reached ~20% of the target in 56% of the Month, it's going not so great! Before everyone gets on me for the 10 Mile Swim challenge, Miami had rough storms all of last week, which limited me from getting in the water - but I promise I will reach the 10 Miles by the end of the Month ... and if anybody needs me, I'll be in the water catching up on my swim miles! PS. While we already reached the fundraising goal, that doesn't mean the giving needs to stop, so if you are able to help and contribute: the fundraising links can be found in the comment section below #charity #fundraising #justgiving

Critical Project Lesson No.53 – End of Project Review An often overlooked aspect of the project lifecycle is the end of project review. This is where all project stakeholders, client and end users come together to review the project and determine if it had been a success. This can be valuable in so many ways to fleshing out lessons learned, understanding if the benefits sought were realised to discussing future opportunities. This is rarely done as, I believe, the perspective is that the project is now in the rear view mirror and people are busy on new projects. However to pause and reflect on what was undertaken and achieved can only help for any new projects coming up in future. I took on three big challenges this year and completed them all: * Competing in a boxing match - DONE * Run the London Marathon in April - DONE * Climb Kilimanjaro - DONE It has been a tough but hugely rewarding year. So gratifying to see so much raised for MacMillan Cancer Support. So far we have raised £2,300. The JustGiving page will remain open till 1st January 2025. https://lnkd.in/eM969SBS OR https://lnkd.in/eM969SBS OR Text STEVIE24 to 70550 to make a single £5 donation. A MASSIVE thanks for any support you can give me with this. #macmillan #macmillancancersupport #macmillancancer #macmillanfundraiser #macmillancharity #boxingtraining #cancer #cancersurvivor #boxing #fighter #boxingworkout #boxingfitness #fightback #fitness #fitnessmotivation #fitnessgoals #training #change

Today, I officially signed up for the The IRONMAN Group in Barcelona! 05/10/2025 I made this decision because I’ve been craving a new challenge to push myself further. Lifting weights alone wasn’t sparking the same motivation anymore, so I thought, why not go for something extreme? What better way to test my limits than tackling one of the toughest endurance events out there? But this journey isn’t just about personal growth. I’ll be dedicating my Ironman to raising money for AJ Myocarditis UK in memory of my best friend, who tragically passed away two years ago from myocarditis. This cause is deeply personal to me, and through this challenge, I hope to raise awareness and funds to support others affected by this condition. Additionally, I’ll be raising money for Kidney Research UK, a cause very close to my heart because of my dad, who lives with kidney disease and has courageously overcome kidney cancer. Through this effort, I aim to make a meaningful impact in his honor and for others facing similar challenges. Please use this Link - https://gofund.me/0c82fa30 to donate anymore ( All money raised will be split 50/50 between both charities) If you would like to read more on both Charities, I have put two links below. This week’s #TourTipTuesday comes from Aaron Kelemen, Tire Track Qualifier and Captain of Team ENMAX. As a 7-year participant, he is no stranger to asking for donations, but admits it took time to learn how to fundraise successfully. Take note of Aaron’s Pro Tips: 1. Take the time to ask everyone individually. 2. Be direct, share what you’re doing and ask for support. 3. Never share the link until you get a “yes”. 4. Think of something you can provide in exchange for donations - Aaron offers guitar lessons and asks for a min donation to his fundraising page instead of charging a set fee. 5. Fundraise year-round. It takes time to reach the goal so get started early and keep asking. Use Aaron’s fundraising tips to get yourself to the start line, earn a prestigious Champion Jersey or snag the last remaining Tire Track Qualifier spot - will you be the 10th and final qualifier for the 2024 Enbridge Tour Alberta for Cancer? Fundraise now: https://lnkd.in/g_PJHFi4

I should also disclose the secrets of our success, indicate the bar for participation (skill, experience etc), and why more teams should sign up next year. 1. Success factors - Two of our team had never cycled in a velodrome before. Key requirement is enthusiasm, and in my case not having broken any bones by falling off my bike before the event (yes I am and was the weakest link - eg I had my saddle at the wrong height until a pro pulled me over and politely pointed this out). 2. Why sign up? It’s an incredible day out (talks by cycling pros, a massage etc) and an excellent evening meal (assisted by having dinner with part of the very able #Hausfeld team with who we have worked on a occupancy safety systems for several years - it will be well worth reading the Tribunal’s judgment in a few months, not least as this case is not a folllow-on damages claim). You also get to add a new Lycra top (also a good look for middle aged men.. contrary to the views of naysayers). 3. Really why sign up? It’s a very worthy cause. I have been fabulously lucky in life in an array of ways, including that my three kids have not needed GOSH’s services. This is precisely the sort of event that the fabulously lucky should support. And well done to all the many teams for doing so (including #Freshfields, #Willkie etc etc).
It’s not all work and no play. Yesterday I attended and participated in a charity track cycling event at the London Velodrome. The cause was Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), one of the world’s leading children's Cancer hospitals, last night we heard some incredible stories of children impacted by cancer; their resilience, determination and fortitude. It really does put life into perspective! I’m pleased to say that with the help of my colleagues Mat Hughes, Paul Taylor and Oliver Rake we actually managed to win the (plate) trophy. So whilst we weren’t the quickest overall, we were the quickest of the slowest! We were also joined by our friends and colleagues from #Hausfeld for a dinner and charity auction. The event raised over £300k and took the charity over the £2m mark for the event over the last few years. They are currently raising money to build a market leading facility here in the U.K. Final thanks to #WillkieFarr and Peter Burrell, and #Freshfields who are also involved in the event. I’m already looking forward to improving our time next year !

When young Jake Spurdle wheeled himself into the old studio down at the Marina and asked for help, Bron did not hesitate for one second. Jake was just fourteen at the time, and dealing with a very serious cancer diagnosis, and had dropped by with his mum Nyky, asking for help to raise funds for his family and to increase the awareness of his rare form of cancer. What started with ideas being thrown about for lamington drives or some sort of event, quickly grew to what became known as 'Play 4 Jake'. This event is one for the history books, one that our team will never forget. Play 4 Jake ended up with a fantastic golf day, a charity dinner and a wheelchair rugby game like no other, with over $60,000 raised for Jake and his chosen charity 'Engenic'. The South Sydney Rabbitohs sent their 'old boys', well known football stars who had played for the team, and Australia. We have shared their official video of the event here, and we hope you enjoy it, please watch it to the end. Bron says the gift of bringing so many of Jake's dreams to reality, is something she treasures to this day. In fact, it is the back story to the 'Make Everyday Count' merch we have produced...because tomorrow is not guaranteed to anyone. Event management is one thing, bringing a kids dream to life, giving him the best weekend ever, knowing that life was being cut short, is another. We miss you and love you Jake...forever fifteen. #thesocialcoachforbusiness #socialmediamarketingagency #socialmediacoach
