Be A Love Warrior! Marginalized communities are more likely to experience poverty, lack of affordable housing, and discrimination in the housing market, pushing them into homelessness at higher rates. Addressing the root causes of racial disparities in homelessness requires that we embrace solutions that center Radical Love. The Supreme Court decision will lead to further stigmatization and violence on our unhoused neighbors. Embracing and protecting Radical Love is imperative. February is Black History Month! Did you know that in the United States, people of color have long been disproportionately represented among those experiencing homelessness? According to the 2023 Point-in-Time count, in Dallas and Collin Counties, Black individuals make up 60% of the population of our unhoused neighbors while being only 20% of the overall population. Housing Forward in collaboration with the All Neighbors Coalition is focused on reducing homelessness by bringing partners together around effective solutions and advancing racial equity throughout the entire rehousing system.
