Strong public/private alliances and green cluster way of work is necessary to reduce #Co2emissions in #aviation. At #zerac24 Zero Emission Regional Aviation Conference 2024 in Oslo yesteerday, André Küüsvek, President & CEO of Nordic Investment Bank, gave a presentation on financing the transition, followed by a panel with Birger Steen (Nordic Semiconductor), Simon McNamara (Heart Aerospace), and Børge Noddeland (Enova SF) on investments and financial support. The key hurdle is access to green power where it is needed. One more confirmation of Nordic Investment Bank focus on #greenenergy #hydropower #electricgrid is important. RIX #RigaAirport was proud to participate in the Tech Tour European Hydrogen Valleys 2024 programme in Riga, emphasizing the critical role of hydrogen in driving innovation across the #aviation sector. During the event, Member of the Board of Riga Airport Normunds Feierbergs showcased Riga Airport as a prime location for testing hydrogen technologies, highlighting our involvement in the Interreg Baltic Sea Region project BSR HyAirport, where we collaborate with 16 partners from Scandinavia, the Baltic States, Poland, and Germany, focused on creating the preconditions for the use of green hydrogen in aviation: "Our goal is to achieve Net Zero by 2035. We invite innovative companies to use our airport as a testing ground for hydrogen production, refueling, and hydrogen-powered equipment, including heavy-duty transport vehicles. IHI selected for further hydrogen fuel cell and aircraft electrification research ❗ Hydrogen fuel cell and aircraft electrification technologies developed by Japan’s IHI will be further refined through projects initiated by the country’s New Energy and Industrial Development Organization (NEDO). Developing aircraft using hydrogen is seen as a major lever to support net-zero CO2 emissions by 2050 and to secure the long-term decarbonization of air travel. The GOLIAT - Horizon Europe project (Ground Operations of LIquid hydrogen AircrafT) project, will be led by Airbus and supported by academic partners, airport operators, and leading hydrogen-industry companies, and will demonstrate liquid hydrogen aircraft ground operations at three European airports. ✈ With €10.8M funding over four years from the EU’s @HorizonEurope Framework Programme, GOLIAT will showcase several critical technologies needed for future certified high-performance LH2 refuelling.
