Today at the Council of Europe, I met with the co-rapporteurs from the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, Vladimir Prebilič and Carla Dejonghe. I provided updates on various aspects of the situation in the Republic of Moldova which has also positively developed on some aspects. We had a political exchange of views on the electoral processes during the local elections last fall and discussed potential modifications for future elections. Some of these issues are encapsulated in the draft recommendation which will be submitted for vote tomorrow. I also raised concerns about irregularities from central authorities regarding electoral matters and presented CALM's stance on both the progress and challenges related to the European Charter of Local Self-Government, as well as roadmaps. It is imperative for #Moldova to adhere to #EU standards across all sectors without deviation or neglect.

*New webinar* - Please join us for a briefing looking at the outcome of the French legislative elections and what it is likely to mean for businesses. With three divergent ideological blocs holding nearly equal legislative power, and disagreement even within the constituent parties, the coming months will be fraught with disagreement and disruption to the legislative process. Political and economic instability will make the year ahead an uncertain one for organisations with interests or operations in France, but also in Europe more widely. 🗎 𝗡𝗘𝗪 𝗣𝗨𝗕𝗟𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 by Benjamin Bodson & Ward Den Dooven "𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗴𝗶𝘂𝗺: “𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗱 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻”" @EGMONT - Royal Institute for International Relations 1️⃣ The Belgians will head to the polls to cast their votes in 3 elections: regional, federal & European. Although Belgium is holding the Presidency of the Council for the 13th time the European election is gaining the least traction 2️⃣ While holding the elections for the respective assemblies on the same day has a practical advantage, it reduces the capacity to identify which level of power is competent for which matter 3️⃣ A mega election campaign pushes political parties to prioritise where their money should be spent. As parties perceive marginal gain in the European elections they tend to naturally prioritise the federal & regional ballots 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗶𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 👉 bit.ly/3yDYUUx

✔️ The European elections are just three weeks away, and today we're releasing a special edition of the Ipsos European Public Affairs digest: https://lnkd.in/ewQuV5xn In this issue, we present articles on the challenges currently facing election polls, on citizens' overall positive perception of the European Union, and on the role of mainstream right-wing parties in the rise of the radical right, focusing on the Dutch and Italian examples. For my part, I wondered whether we might be at the point where European elections can no longer be considered a mere patchwork of disparate national ballots, but whether distinctly pan-European trends would emerge. (spoiler: maybe, somewhat) Maria Chiara Vinciguerra Dr Sara Davidson Christine Tresignie Marchese Oliviero Andrea Scavo Sjoerd van Heck Robert Grimm
Excited to share that the latest Special Edition of our Ipsos Digest on the European Elections 2024 is now out! With over 400 million EU citizens heading to the polls on 4-6 June, we have gathered some of Ipsos’ top minds in European electoral analysis to provide insights on the key issues at stake. I also had the opportunity to interview Marchese Oliviero Ipsos Global Director of Election Research, to discuss election polling best practices, challenges and innovative solutions. Check the publication out here: https://lnkd.in/ewQuV5xn Big thanks to Dr Sara Davidson , Marchese Oliviero , Robert Grimm , Mathieu Gallard , Andrea Scavo , Sjoerd van Heck for your fantastic contributions! #EU #EuropeanElections #electionresearch #polling
