Story Flourish is a new charity. Our aim is to drive a change in educational policy to make gardens part of school life and integrate outdoor learning into the curriculum. Children’s depression, anxiety and ADHD is on the rise and one of the reasons is our disconnect with nature. Increasingly, our children struggle with the basics - self-regulation, resilience, concentration, using initiative. Flourish create gardens where children can reconnect with nature and improve their mental health, educational achievements, and their employment opportunities in the future. Over the last six years, we have involved children in hands-on gardening. The results have been moving and astounding. Children are more engaged, want to learn and are happier. Now we are ready to test a school-wide approach and track the results so that we can make the case for wider roll-out. We believe Flourish can provide governments across the UK with the mechanism needed to establish the natural world in education policy, as called for in the Dasgupta review.* We're fundraising to get the first Flourish garden installed, and need your help to make it happen. Flourish gardens are uncompromisingly high in quality and beauty. Our beautiful outdoor spaces inspire children to play, imagine, explore, stay curious and wonder. This improves their physical and mental health and gets them ready to learn. We're ready to get gardens into schools, to integrate horticulture throughout the curriculum, and produce the evidence needed to take this to governments across the UK. We've already raised £70,000 to kick-start the project and do all the project development. We now need £155,000 to install our first garden, design the teaching method, collect the data needed to measure impact, and design and plan for the second garden. We know this approach works. Please help us bring about the change that everybody wants to see and help children be better prepared for their future. Please help Flourish. For more info, go to www.flourishcharity.org

Can anyone connect me with someone who runs an educational charity or nonprofit that is not actually a school, that is successfully set up as an eligible body, so that it does not need to charge VAT on its sales of education? Growing pains at www.p4he.org mean that we need to look at converting to non-profit status or we will have to start charging parents VAT for our online courses and residentials, which will really hit affordability. The organisation would be a perfectly legitimate non-profit as we do great work with underserved children who are home-educated, gifted, neurodiverse and sometimes all three, and everyone involved goes beyond what we're reasonably paid to do. However, from experience as a trustee at another organisation, the precise wording of the documents establishing the organisation are more important to the VAT man than the reality of the work you're doing. I'll take legal advice as well, and hope to find out exactly what Labour are doing to make sure we wouldn't be collateral damage in the move against private schools, but would be great to speak to someone who has got it right.

It's Giving Tuesday - when you get to choose to support the causes you love! This year, consider supporting Jacks on Track at NAU! JOT is a program designed to assist students who have "stopped out" of college without earning their degree. Dedicated success coaches - like me - help students re-enroll and support them all the way to graduation. We offer degree and career advice, connection to resources, personal support and the ever-important access to funding to help students re-engage, persist, and graduate! 😀 🎓 🎉 To give: simply click the "Giving Tuesday" link below, click "Make a Gift," type "Jacks on Track" in the designation box and it will populate for you, and select the gift amount! https://lnkd.in/g4ePkvca

🌱 The Power of a Mustard Seed, ACE Scholarships, and the Significance of Father’s Day As we celebrate Father’s Day, I'm reminded of the incredible role fathers play in nurturing the dreams and aspirations of their children. Much like a mustard seed, the smallest of all seeds, can grow into the largest of garden plants, so too can a small act of generosity grow into a life-changing opportunity. At ACE Scholarships we believe in the transformative power of educational choice. Each scholarship we provide is like a tiny mustard seed, filled with the potential to flourish into something magnificent. These scholarships enable children to attend schools that best fit their needs, fostering environments where they can thrive academically and personally. Fathers are often the ones who plant these seeds of hope, encouraging their children to dream big and work hard. We've seen firsthand how these opportunities can change the trajectory of a child's life, turning dreams into realities. It’s a reminder that even the smallest contributions can have a profound impact when nurtured with care and dedication. This Father’s Day, let's honor the fathers who inspire, guide, and support their children’s educational journeys. By supporting ACE Scholarships you're not just funding an education; you're planting a seed of hope, growth, and endless possibilities for future generations. Together, let's continue to sow these seeds and witness the extraordinary gardens they become. https://lnkd.in/gbDtyC8x #FathersDay #EducationalChoice #ACEsScholarships #Inspiration #Hope #Growth #PlantingSeeds

Shake your PR plan up a bit and give it a boost of creativity through the power of STEAM education. STEAM injects a healthy and necessary dose of the arts into science, technology, engineering and math. Start early by giving elementary school aged children and their parents opportunity to learn about important aspects of your organization, the way it works and how it impacts the community - all through fun children's books that align with your objectives and strategy. Whether you're working in a school, running a small business or leading marketing efforts for a major corporation, you can get the word out about your impact while strengthening education. It's a win-win-win. We’re excited to announce that the James Cowper Kreston Foundation is supporting Adventure Plus by funding the purchase of two Infento kits. Infento is an innovative company that creates kits allowing children and adults to build fully functional, constructible rides together. The kits will provide opportunities for young people to develop important skills in critical thinking, problem solving and teamwork. The Foundation’s next funding round is scheduled to open this Winter, so make sure to visit their website for updates by clicking here 👉 https://lnkd.in/euaDVMSj #adventureplus #funding #charity #foundation #jckfoundation #maximiseyourpotential
In October, Bernice Flack, a member of our Foundation, met with Jon Cox, Founder and Director and Wayne Solomon, Instructor, along with the rest of the Adventure Plus team. Adventure Plus has been a leader in providing quality adventure experiences to children for over 30 years. Founded in 1990 by Jon and Tessa Cox, Adventure Plus offers adventure holidays, school residential programmes, Duke of Edinburgh expeditions, team-building events and a variety of other inspiring activities for young people and adults throughout Oxfordshire and across the UK. The mission of Adventure Plus is to help children and young people reach their potential, make positive life choices and enjoy enriching experiences in the great outdoors. A specialised unit of Adventure Plus, known as Adventure Impact (AIm), works with children who are excluded or at risk of exclusion from mainstream education. Young people are referred individually by schools, social services, or Pupil Referral Units (PRUs) and organisations supporting young people with learning disabilities and childhood trauma. Our grant will enable Adventure Plus to purchase two Infento kits, one Legend kit and one Genius kit, for use with all AIm participants. Infento is the first in the world to create a kit that enables children and adults to work together to build real constructible rides and provide opportunities for young people to develop important skills in critical thinking, problem solving and teamwork. I am amazed at what a single movement can do for non profits, particularly our school. Today is Giving Tuesday and like many organizations, we secured a matching fund of $40,000 to inspire our alumni, current families and alumni parents to give today, and double their dollars. But it's become my favorite day on the giving calendar because of conversations like the one I had with Jack Dowd. Jack graduated from St. Charles in 1949, which makes him 93 years young! He wanted to give his donation over the phone...and also share that Ocala, FL is a great place to live. (*noted!) He said he was happy, healthy and has learned that a long life is about "movement." He has no email address and still uses a flip phone, walks his dog every day and sometimes rides his bike. His biggest tip: don't ever give up driving your car, it limits your freedom! He was sharp as a tack, delightful and witty. These conversations are gifts to those of us on our development team. They remind us of the very personal experience that our alums have with St. Charles, show us the importance of giving back, and are proof that we do, in fact, Build Better Men. What does a campaign like Giving Tuesday mean for St. Charles? It means we can continue developing young men in an all-boys environment, centered around faith and rigorous academics, with the goal of every young man achieving his God-given potential. It means we can accommodate our growing enrollment and the need for additional faculty, staff and classrooms. It means we can invest in emergency equipment for new buildings, refurbishment needs of our historical spaces, weekend junior and senior religious retreats, unique speakers and programs, faculty and staff professional development and more. There's still time to give today and help us "meet the match." Go to: www.scprepgive.org and direct your gift to the annual fund. Wanna help us beat last year's goal? We need 63 givers in this next hour to stay above pace from last year at this time. Alums, please message me if you prefer to give through DAF, check or a gift of stock. #buildingbettermen #todaysboystomorrowsmen. #givingtuesday
