Diversity should be celebrated in every workplace! A diverse team brings new ideas, unique perspectives, and different angles, all of which are essential for achieving the highest standards of company goals! Though diversity should be celebrated, vulnerable populations within the workforce are frequently subjected to mistreatment and abuse, a consequence of social systems that actively disempower them. The safety and comfort of staff members should be a virtue found in all organizations! Want to learn more about how marginalized groups can face mistreatment in the workplace? Check out this video I made in observation of Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15th - Oct. 15th), where I discuss the unfortunate, yet common, instances of abuse against Hispanic people both in and out of the workplace.

Why Black Professional Organizations Matter More Than Ever. Freelance journalist Maya Richard-Craven highlights the importance of intersectionality in the workplace for Black individuals and the need for discussions on shared experiences faced by Black individuals and BIPOC. Educating oneself on these crucial topics is vital for workplace inclusivity. Highly recommend reading Maya Richard-Craven’s enlightening article “We Need Black Professional Organizations Now More Than Ever. Here’s Why.” It sheds light on the daily experiences of Black individuals and provides valuable resources for those looking to be part of the conversation. Even if you're not directly part of this community, understanding and supporting these initiatives are pivotal for fostering an inclusive workplace environment for all. ✨ Discovering Spaces that Amplify Black and Underrepresented Voices ✨ In my journey through the intricate industry of diversity recruitment marketing and employer branding, I've been on the lookout for platforms that resonate with authenticity and purpose. Today, I'm elated to spotlight Blacklist | DEI. It was born out of a professional's desire to help marginalized communities identify organizations that are not safe places, as well as organizations that are authentically inclusive. 🖤 Why Blacklist Stands Out: It's more than just a platform; it's a sanctuary for underrepresented professionals. It champions the ethos that every individual deserves to be celebrated in their workspace, not merely tolerated. It offers a space to find DEIB-safe job opportunities, share poignant narratives, and collaborate with forward-thinking companies. For those of us in the realm of employer branding, Blacklist serves as a poignant reminder of the power of genuine representation and the importance of creating spaces where voices are not just heard but celebrated. 🔗 Dive into the World of Blacklist- https://lnkd.in/gTyqjNfY #DiversityMatters #ElevateBlackVoices #DEIChampion #AuthenticRepresentation

🚀It was great to host PARDN’s recent networking and panel event at our offices earlier this week. 💡The panel delved into crucial discussions on closing the racial diversity gaps in public affairs and what more can be done to recruit a more diverse set of applicants. 🚧 However, recruiting a more diverse set of applicants comes with its unique challenges. Acknowledging and addressing these challenges is essential for creating effective strategies to promote diversity and inclusion within an organisation. #diversityandinclusion #publicaffairs #pardn

We need more white men to support inclusion strategies. Yes, you read that right. Unfortunately, when it comes to decision-making tables and authority in rooms, I don't have it. People don't want to sign off the budget to me, are quick to negotiate down, and quite frankly don't listen to what I have to say. I have to work 10x harder to get my point across and it's exhausting. I need white men to step up and step in. Have my back. Have your colleagues back. Use your voice. More importantly - use your power. Because you have it whether you know it or not. The world and the systems within it were made for you. The ability to make a difference really sits with you. We need you to care so the world can be a better place. #UseYourVoice

Latinos in the US are pivotal economic drivers: They make up 19% of the population, yet face a substantial representation gap in boardrooms, holding just 4.1% of Fortune 500 board seats, according to the Latino Corporate Directors Association (LCDA). Landing a job often hinges on professional connections. However, new data reveals Latinos, who remain underrepresented in leadership roles across various industries also have professional networks that are 20% smaller than white members on LinkedIn. At the heart of the conversation lies network optimization. We’ve found Latinos tend to send out and receive fewer invitations, and those invitations are often less likely to be accepted. Latinos need to play both offense and defense when building a tight-knit professional community. Continuing to invite and add each other isn't just a favor — when you accept an invitation the connection is a mutually beneficial relationship. Plus, it's essential to engage with non-Hispanic contacts strategically. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/etZ5A7MS #HispanicHeritageMonth #HHM #HHM2023

It’s time for companies and employers to recognize that the workforce will be majority non-white and women by 2030. This is a huge step in the right direction. You may come across a boss who genuinely believes eurocentric work practices and beauty standards are the norm. Well, it’s time to wake up. I work at a Black female run public relations and crisis communications firm based in Houston. The employees are predominantly BIPOC. The place where I work is ahead of its time. Soon that will be the standard in the workplace. So, what do we do for now? -Spread awareness about the increase in BIPOC in the workplace. -Recognize and understand the importance of this cultural shift. -Keep talking despite pushback or judgment. -Remain open to learning from others even if you are well educated or in academia. -Don’t feel obligated to educate white people at work in your professional or personal life. -Your role as a BIPOC professional is not to explain things to white employers and colleagues. -We are not here to educate you. #blacklinkedin #work #careers #employers #companies #colleagues #workforce #workplace #diversity #representation #bipoc #poc #blackpeople #blackwomen #blackexcellence #blackgirlmagic

Celebrating Juneteenth Do you know the history of Juneteenth? Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19th, commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. On this day in 1865, Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, with the news that the Civil War had ended and the enslaved were now free—over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. The US Government adopted Juneteenth as a Federal Holiday in June 2021 and many companies have begun adding this as a paid holiday for team members, believing that understanding and honoring this pivotal moment in history is crucial for fostering a culture of inclusivity and respect in the workplace. There are various, meaningful ways to celebrate Juneteenth, including: •Educational Initiatives: Hosting webinars, workshops, and discussions to educate employees about the history and significance of Juneteenth. •Community Engagement: Partnering with local organizations for community service projects or supporting Black-owned businesses. •Company-wide Reflection: Offering a day off or reduced working hours to allow employees to reflect, participate in local events, or spend time with family and friends. How does your company honor Juneteenth? #Juneteenth #DiversityAndInclusion #HR #WorkplaceCulture #Equality
