Children in #Somaliland and #Somalia face a multitude of challenges, from climate change to hunger, child marriage, and inadequate education. These adversities have far-reaching effects on their well-being and prospects for growth. As global issues compound local problems, it is crucial to prioritize the safety, health, and resilience of these children. By focusing on quality education, mental health support (a wide neglected area), and protection from harm, it can be created a more equitable community that uplifts its most vulnerable members. #ChildrensWellbeing

As we grapple with the heartrending news from Scarborough, where two young souls were abruptly subtracted from the future's ledger, I can't help but forecast a Ripple Effect beyond the borders of our immediate communities: • A reaffirmed urgency for mental health support and accessible crisis intervention. • Greater scrutiny on building security and the welfare checks of our neighbors. • Tightened community bonds, with a renewed focus on watching over the most vulnerable. In the face of such sorrow, it's imperative to predict the positives that may emerge. Where are the homeless people supposed to go? I understand that many people feel fatigued by the homelessness issue, but we must remember that we're dealing with human beings, not stray animals. Taking away their shelters without offering any support or services to help them improve their situation is simply heartless. Solving the homeless issue in California requires a multifaceted approach that includes increasing affordable housing, expanding mental health and addiction services, and providing job training and support programs. Simply kicking them out of their encampments without addressing these needs first is not a great idea.

Access to #mental health care is a critical issue in many African countries, with less than one #mentalhealth worker per 100,000 people. We need to prioritize #mentalhealth and invest in more resources to support those in need. #MentalHealthMatters

Young people we support face stress daily. Some are worried about their families who are in dangerous situations; others are facing eviction and fear becoming street homeless; many are awaiting huge decisions which will determine their future safety. As well as working with young people to resolve practical issues and providing emotional support through Casework, our partners Helen Bamber Foundation and Off the Record offer expert therapeutic advice and provide young people with tools to manage stress and talk through their feelings and worries. #StressAwarenessMonth
