However, I have been interning with Summit since 2020. 🔹What do you like about your job? - I enjoy getting to be a part of my client’s lives. I get the opportunity to celebrate when they achieve their dreams. But I also am the person who helps them get back on their feet when it seems like those dreams are unreachable. It’s a special relationship that is unique to this career and is why I am passionate about my job. 🔹What's your favorite hobby? - My favorite hobby is swimming! I compete for a team called the Columbus Clownfish, in the Masters Swimming League. 🔹What’s some of the greatest advice you’ve ever received? - Some of the greatest advice I have ever received was from my mentor Brian Sutliff. He said you can provide the greatest financial plan of all time, but if you can’t put yourself in your clients’ shoes and understand their fears and their dreams then it meant nothing. #NewMember #CentralOhioFPA #GetToKnow

Meet Ryan Heinzerling '24, an English and Political Science major, making waves as a Corporate Partners Intern with the New York Mets! ⚾️ For Ryan, the allure of the sports industry and the power it holds was irresistible. The passion and love that sports enthusiasts pour into their favorite games gave new meaning to office work for Ryan. As an English major, the business world might have felt unfamiliar, but when viewed through the lens of sports, everything clicked into place. And to top it all off, it's with the Mets, a team he's been a diehard fan of since childhood, bonding over that shared passion with his dad. 💼 One key takeaway from the internship for Ryan has been the importance of adaptability. Entering a role with little prior experience can be nerve-wracking, but interning is all about being a sponge and absorbing as much knowledge as possible. This lesson resonates beyond sports, proving invaluable in any career situation. 🚀 This internship has pushed Ryan to recognize the immense value of seizing opportunities. As an intern, you have the choice to stay quietly at your desk or step out of your comfort zone. Initially, breaking the ice and meeting new people can be daunting, but the rewards of learning about others' lives and making memorable connections are immeasurable. 💡The best advice Ryan has received revolves around three crucial career buckets: industry, specialty, and location. Identifying the industry, such as sports, is a great starting point, followed by narrowing down your specific niche within it. This focus will pave the way for a fulfilling and rewarding career path. 🎯 With dreams of a career in baseball, Ryan is determined to find his place, whether in partnerships or another division. Learning the intricacies of the industry takes time, but this internship has set him on the right track. Now that many have graduated and moved on to their careers, they take with them knowledge and experience that gives them an advantage in the competitive commercial real estate industry. Noah Smith discusses some of the practical experience he puts into practice as an intern.

[Thank you Edo!] Yesterday was the last day of Edoardo Baiocco curricular internship.  In these two months, a beautiful relationship has been born with him.  His contribution has been fundamental for 4 reasons : 1. It further strengthened the unity of the team and the ease of sharing between the IT team (Alberto Bordin, Paolo Ceffa and Federico Visintini )and the Business team (Lorenzo Roccati, Letizia Gaggiotti, Francesco Tansella). 2. It gave a strong boost to lead generation automation; 3. Contributed to the speed of creating the data room for investors (for our seed round) 4. Contributed to the development of the new version of the Olivia front-end. Edo, your contribution was crucial. When you want to come back, the doors will always be open to you. Appreciate the Love, Joe Carbone! Often people ask me how I got into real estate and what I did my years spent in New York. I love these questions. I say the same thing proudly every time: I started in the executive search. At 21 (20 if you count my internship), I was thrown into mix. Cold Calling, going on lunches, wearing suits, and joining high level conversations with some of New York Cities TOP financial service and management consulting professionals. And I got to do it from the very BEST in the industry. Joe Carbone & Brett Vecchio. They taught me business acumen, the art of the deal, negotiations, how to present myself in a professional environment, along with many other industry-transferable skills I'd be lost to this day without. Now, entering year 4 of my real estate career, I see how imperative these skills were to my future success. I can truthfully say I have zero clue where I would be if it wasn't for Joe Carbone, Brett Vecchio , the city of Manhattan, and the executive search industry. For that, I thank you! It is tricky, tireless work to ensure a #familybusiness has the governance needed to preserve family harmony, AND run a great, enduring business for generations. It's a lot lot easier to align when the business is small, because those who needs to know are either in the break room or at the kitchen table. When you have grown into the #1 Refrigerated Tea Brand in America and the fastest growing lemonade like we have at Milo's Tea Company, Inc., it takes a thriving ecosystem of remarkable coaches, advisors, independent directors, and thoughtful TEAm members to drive exceptional governance. One big piece of governance is education and succession planning for NextGens and spouses that married in. So, when we were all in #Birmingham for Thanksgiving a few weeks ago, we hosted a Family Meeting with owners, spouses, and kids led by advisors and key TEAmmates. What do you do at a Family Meeting? Business, first, of course. We educate about our company, industry, and governance. This meeting, we enjoyed a plant tour of our #Homewood manufacturing and distribution center. Then, we met about the duties and responsibilities of ownership. We acknowledged that the duties for family members to interact with the business are even greater that other associates. And, we shared the reality that it's not just going to be "inherit," there has to be merit, hard work, and contribution to be ready, and to overcome assumptions that DNA got you a job, an internship, or an opportunity. Next up, had to be a little fun too so we headed to Topgolf for a some healthy competition on the course. (Yes, I lost 🤣 ). It's important to talk to kids early about family business because this is a very long journey. I'm not sure what will happen with my kiddos. But I am sure that it's the right thing to educate loudly, repeatedly, and early-on that with great opportunity comes even greater responsibility. If you're not ready when that opportunity comes, it will fly past you, especially if it is on a rocket ship like Milo's.
