Chevron is the proud presenting partner of the Houston Texans Legends Community, and we were excited to join forces last week to celebrate some special football stars! The Legends are former Texans players that share our passion for giving back to the community through volunteerism. Student athletes at Aldine High School and Benjamin O. Davis High School were surprised by Toro, the Texans Cheerleaders and Legends Chris Clark and Wade Smith. Thank you, Chris and Wade, for sharing your journeys from young athletes to professional NFL players and the lessons learned along the way. Chevron is proud to support these incredible athletes through the donation of brand-new cleats to both football teams. Through partnership with the Houston Texans, we aim to empower Houston’s youth while inspiring their interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education. Best of luck to both teams as they kick off their football season!

Since 1993, the Houston Zoo has worked closely with US Fish and Wildlife Services on the Attwater’s Prairie Chicken (APC) recovery program and Chevron has been the proud sponsor for the last 14 years. As a part of this unique program, 53 chickens were released this month at the APC National Wildlife Refuge, approximately 60 miles west of Houston. The refuge is home to one of the largest remnants of native coastal prairie remaining in southeast Texas. The Zoo manages breed-and-release efforts where the land mimics their future habitat. Hens lay eggs in March, and birds are released late summer. Once released, the teams oversee holding pens for acclimation and other support, with the goal towards creating self-sustaining populations. This program is important because about 1 million birds once called our region home; that number is now down to about 200. These endangered chickens have suffered population declines due to habitat loss. The efforts of the Zoo and its partners are a key reason why this species exists in the wild today. We aim to support organizations that help to make the Greater Houston area a better place to live, and that includes addressing biodiversity and conservation needs. The Attwater Prairie Chicken lives right in our backyard, and thanks to the Zoo, these birds can continue to thrive. Laura Dandridge Amber Tierce

Earlier this month, Chevron Houston hosted the inaugural Energy Open House, a half-day opportunity for 150 of our partners across the city to come into our home and learn how we enable global innovation from right here in Houston. This first-of-its-kind event was held in our downtown office where we provided a holistic view of our operations and our industry at large to an audience of community leaders, sports partners, non-profit organizations and business advocacy groups. Many thanks to our participants for spending the day with us and learning how energy will continue to power Houston and Texas forward.

Proud to support the next generation of STEM innovators at the Children's Museum Houston!

When was the last time you made a project just for fun? Every summer, kids take over the Museum's Chevron Maker Annex, and the results are always impressive. Only children could come up with creative projects like Pokémon-inspired sushi delivery cars and a diorama with a 3D-printed rabbit that is illuminated by color-changing LEDs. Children completed their designs over several ideaMAKE workshop sessions, with full access to our Chevron Maker Annex tools. I am so proud of the children who took part in this series, and our educators who helped every child achieve their goals. Thank you Chevron Houston for supporting programming that empowers children to see themselves as our city's future engineers and inventors. #STEMforEveryone

Chevron has been a part of the Houston community for over a century, and we are proud to step up and help Houstonians in need. We have pledged $225,000 to be shared among the Houston Food Bank, Kids' Meals, Inc. and American Red Cross to assist with food replenishment efforts and disaster response. We appreciate all the efforts of these organizations to swiftly support our city. Additionally, our employees will be volunteering over the next few weeks with local organizations impacted by Hurricane Beryl.

Sports are a great way to teach leadership and teamwork, while also inspiring interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM)--which is why we are proud to partner with the Houston Texans on Texans Youth Football Camp presented by Chevron. Kids from all over Houston enjoyed an active and energetic morning in the Texans’ official practice facility learning drills and activities taught by pro coaches, while also exploring the STEM principles behind the game. Texans’ wide receiver Nico Collins, Toro and the Texans Cheerleaders even made appearances! Check out our human energy in action and get excited for the upcoming football season! Go Texans!

Last week, the Houston Food Bank presented Chevron with the President’s Volunteer Service Gold Award. This prestigious award was created in 2003 to recognize the important role volunteers play in solving some of our nation’s toughest challenges, like food insecurity. Volunteering is a key component of our partnerships in Houston, which aim to advance progress and strengthen communities. In 2023, Chevron recorded 2,190 hours at the Houston Food Bank, far surpassing the 500-hour threshold to achieve Gold. Thank you to everyone who gave their time and human energy to help further Houston Food Bank's mission of "Food for Better Lives". The Chevron Championship is one of the five major championships on the Ladies PGA Tour. Thank you Chevron and Chevron Houston for the title sponsorship and the most memorable day to watch these talented female athletes compete! DID YOU KNOW: athletes who missed the cut at The Chevron Championship, received $10,000, up from $5,000 in 2023, which is currently the HIGHEST missed-cut stipend on Tour. Nelly Korda - congratulations! What an epic performance: winning her record-tying fifth straight tournament! Thank you Cameron Nazminia, Amber Tierce, Margaret Cooper and all other members of Chevron Houston for the opportunity to share this incredible community partnership through the game of golf ⛳️.
