We just wrapped up another impactful #WBGMeetings. The gathering provided a vital platform for meaningful conversations on pressing challenges, including climate resilience, inclusive growth, job creation, and poverty alleviation, and the need to innovate and scale our mobilization efforts, local currency financing, and local capital market initiatives.    I was particularly inspired by the open dialogues and diverse perspectives shared, as well as the strong commitment to building a sustainable and inclusive future for all.   Alongside my counterparts, I engaged in dialogues with countries and connected with various stakeholders, including representatives from the banking sector, government agencies, regional economic blocs, private investors, multilateral development banks, stock exchanges, policy makers, regulators, and credit insurers.   Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of this year’s meetings.

Pleased to share that IFC - International Finance Corporation has partnered with the Central Bank of Nigeria to increase local currency financing to enable private businesses in Nigeria to grow and thrive. This agreement allows IFC to better manage currency risks and scale investments in Nigerian naira, focusing on key sectors like agriculture, housing, infrastructure, energy, SMEs, and the creative and youth economy. On October 21, I had the honor of speaking at the High-level Panel on Project Preparation, focusing on addressing #FX risk in infrastructure development. This session, part of the Global Infrastructure Facility's Advisory Council Meeting, brought together key stakeholders—governments, MDBs/DFIs, developers, and financiers—to discuss the crucial role of project structuring in developing bankable projects. This is essential for mobilizing private capital and enabling FX risk solutions.   The session highlighted the need for coordination among stakeholders and the vital role of GIF. I emphasized the key role of MDBs in the long-term development of emerging markets, from capacity building to local market development and long-term local financing solutions. I also shared how IFC Treasury Client Solutions provides clients with innovative fixed-income solutions, including structured finance, local currency financing, risk management products, and debt capital markets access.   Kudos to Astrid Manroth and João Reye Sabino for organizing such a fantastic event. I’m excited about the future of resilient and sustainable infrastructure.
