What a whirlwind few days at #HydroVision in Denver this year! The message I heard loud and clear is that the value of hydropower must be recognized, including all of the services it provides to the grid. And hydropower must be done #sustainably, with climate #resilience. I enjoyed the opportunity to catch up face to face with International Hydropower Association (IHA) members Stantec, AECOM, Preformed Windings, Ukrhydroenergo, Greenko Group, Natel Energy and Hydro Québec, as well as colleagues from the Department of Energy, National Renewable Energy Laboratory and Oakridge National Lab A big shout out to my fellow panellists Usha Khatiwada, Eva Kremere and Lindsay Aramayo, as well as the winners of the Women with hydro vision award. #WithHydropower

We are pleased to share that the first global funding call for project proposals from the Accelerate-to-Demonstrate (A2D) Facility has been published by UNIDO. It's inspiring to see such commitment to renewable energy sources and their role in combating climate change. Small hydropower (SHP) projects provide a compelling case study in promoting gender equity. With the hydropower sector expected to employ 3.7 million people by 2050, there's immense potential for gender-inclusive opportunities. SHP projects have been pivotal in challenging gender roles, especially in remote and rural areas. However, women currently represent only 25% of the hydropower workforce, underscoring the need for more targeted interventions.
