There’s a lot that holds us back from trying therapy. We may think we need a serious problem to see a therapist. But therapy is for everyone. Because, as humans, we experience sadness, grief, anxiety, and emotional dysregulation. The only qualification to go to therapy is to be human. You may ask, why not talk to a friend? Because friends aren’t properly trained to listen. And the healing begins the moment you feel properly heard. As you attend therapy, patterns emerge, insights appear, wounds open up, and traumas are acknowledged. Going to therapy is an investment in your human potential and betterment. It is a sign of sanity.

Even if you can’t quite put your finger on what is troubling you, you know something is missing or wrong. You feel overwhelmed, stuck or lost and even though you might have felt like you were coping before, now things seem just too much. You’ve been waiting for something to change but the truth is, you just keep feeling more anxious while you try to keep it together for others. You might feel sad for no apparent reason, cry easily, anger easily, or find yourself withdrawing from friends and family. Things don’t seem to be getting any better and you’re not sure where to turn or what to do next.

Are you struggling to cope with various stressors: transitions, competing demands, and relational challenges? Are you avoiding things due to stress, anxiety, and low mood? Are you feeling stuck in unwanted emotions? Do you have a sense that these difficulties are related to habitual patterns in how you relate and respond to difficulties? We’ve all developed ways of being in the world and in relationships that may have protected us at some point, however, often get in our way. This could include holding yourself to impossibly high standards, struggling to set boundaries, or difficulty connecting with your emotions and needs.

Life can be overwhelming, unfair and full of the unexpected. As we seek change in our own behaviour and circumstances, we are often met with unexpected pain, anxiety, and anger that can be difficult to manage. Psychotherapy is a process in which we address obstacles in life and set goals to healing, understanding and moving forward. There is not challenge in life, big or small, that doesn't deserve the thoughtful reflection of therapy. I work with various presenting concerns, including issues with: anxiety, depression, emotion regulation, loneliness, self-esteem, processing break-ups, stress, burn-out, chronic pain and trauma.

My therapy approach is strongly inspired by my lived experiences as an immigrant women of colour.
Therapy space often starts as a brave space, because of your decision to entrust your story with a stranger, in this case, me :). My responsibility as your therapist is to turn the brave space into a safe space for every part of you. I often think about the therapy as the process of putting together puzzles that don’t come with the original image. My role as your therapist is to accompany you to explore each piece with curiosity and acceptance, so that you can make sense of your pieces and construct images that feel authentic to you.

I believe that every person is doing their best to navigate the many parts of life. When I think of therapy, I imagine someone rowing, and encountering challenging waters. Navigating unexpected circumstances requires thinking outside the box so they can reach their destination. Throughout their journey, they gain new perspectives because of both the challenges and beauty encountered along the way. I am here to row with you, entering the unknown together. I have always been passionate about holding space for others. I provide a safe, warm, approachable, and non-judgemental space for my clients to explore their thoughts and feelings.

While struggles in life are universally inevitable, the healing journey is unique to each individual person. Feelings that can accompany challenges may feel overwhelming, resulting in us responding in ways that do not align with the type of person we want to be, and making our life less meaningful and fulfilling. In these times, extra support that is independent of friends and family, can make all the difference.

What will you do with your time here? Let’s explore that. I work best with people asking some variation of the following questions: “What does it all mean? What am I doing with my life?
