We honestly cannot argue with how good Aussies are when a disaster hits. Disaster after disaster, we continue to see Australians rolling up their sleeves, digging in deep and rallying around those doing it tough and this was evident with the recent ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred's and the devastation it left behind. From individuals lending a hand to so many of our national partners going above and beyond, we would like to say a massive thank to you everyone and every partner that has provided support to the affected communities in Queensland and NSW. A massive thank you to ALDI Stores Australia for stepping in with not only donated goods but turning on donations at tills and dollar matching, Asahi Group Holdings and Amazon for a huge amount of bottled water – something that is needed when local drinking water in unsafe, Fonterra for pallets of UHT milk, Sanitarium for much loved Weet-Bix and Up & Go, The a2 Milk Company for powdered and UHT milk, and SunRice Group, Nestle and Oriental Merchant Group for mixed pantry essentials. We could not do what we do without the support of these amazing partners. The media have left these communities, the spotlight turned on to the next major story but the road to recovery for these communities is not done. It will take months, if not years, to rebuild and Foodbank will be there to ensure they have access to good food and essential supplies for as long as its needed. Thank you for your continued support. #CycloneAlfred #Thankyou #CorporateSupport #Aussies Brianna Casey AM Erica Goldfinch James Trickey Ian Laing

Our Mission: deliver the most food to the most Australians in need in the most efficient and effective way.
About us
Foodbank is a food relief organisation that partners with the entire Australian food and grocery sector to supply front-line charities nationally with the stocks they need to address hunger in the community. This involves working with farmers, wholesalers, manufacturers and retailers to source fresh and manufactured foods as well as personal and household items for those in need. Donations include stock that doesn’t meet industry specifications, is close to expiry or excess to requirements. Companies also make donations as part of their corporate social responsibility commitments and cause-related marketing campaigns. Foodbank supplies food and groceries to more than 2,950 charities and also provides regular breakfasts for students in 2,890 schools across the country. As a not-for-profit organisation, Foodbank relies on governments, individuals, organisations, community groups and thousands of volunteers to fight hunger.

Getting food to people facing hunger across Australia takes a true team effort. Our Stone Fruit Program, supported by Montague Farms and Premier Fresh Australia , ensures a variety of peaches, plums, and nectarines reach Foodbanks across Australia. But moving fresh produce across the country isn’t simple. That’s where our incredible transport partners come in – and for South Australia, Western Australia, and Tasmania, there’s an extra step. To cross borders, the fruit must be irradiated against pests like fruit fly. A huge thank you to Steritech Australia, who process the fruit at their Victorian facilities at no cost to Foodbank – an essential step in getting fresh food from farms to families in need. #FoodRelief #Collaboration #FightingHunger #FoodbankAustralia

The Labor government has committed to developing a new, much-needed, national food security strategy is re-elected and Foodbank thoroughly welcomes this announcement. Food security isn’t just about food relief—it’s about resilience. With natural disasters, supply chain disruptions, and economic pressures becoming the norm, we need a coordinated, whole-of-government approach to ensure food is accessible to every Australian, no matter their circumstances. One in 5 median income households is now experiencing food insecurity, with 10% of these median income households severely food insecure, meaning they are skipping meals and even going entire days without eating to ensure they can keep a roof over their heads. At the same time, Australia wastes 7.6 million tonnes of food every year—enough to feed every hungry Australian multiple times over. The disconnect is staggering. At Foodbank, we’re sourcing 252,000 meals a day, and supporting over a million people each month. But the reality is, that demand is outpacing supply—just as it is for charities across the country. Stronger leadership, stronger policies, and meaningful investment are the only way forward. #FoodSecurity #HungerInAustralia #CostOfLiving #FoodWaste

We’re excited to welcome our new partner, Ascott Australia, to help provide much-needed food relief to communities across the country. Food insecurity is hitting harder than ever, with 69% of single-parent households affected in the past year. Of these households, 41% experienced the most severe form of food insecurity, meaning they regularly skipped meals, reduced portions or went whole days without food. That’s why today, at their International Women’s Day event, Ascott Australia announced a three-year partnership with Foodbank, starting with a donation equivalent to 30,000 meals for people in need. Their ongoing support will help us provide thousands more meals to communities across the country. With a network of over 130 properties, including Quest Apartment Hotels, Citadines, lyf, and Oakwood, Ascott Australia is committed to making a difference—rallying their teams to support food relief through volunteering, fundraising, and food drives. #EndHunger #ZeroHunger #EveryMealMatters #IWD2025

We’re excited to be attending the 2025 AMIC Meat Processors and Export Conference (MPEC) on the Gold Coast, March 12–13! When budgets are tight, meat is often one of the first essentials to disappear from shopping lists, making it one of the most in-demand food items we distribute. This event is a great opportunity to connect with meat processors and exporters from across Australia, raising awareness about the increasing need for food relief and how they can help us ‘meat’ the growing demand. We’re also incredibly grateful to MPEC2025 for the hundreds of kilograms of packaged meat set to be donated to Foodbank. These vital donations will help provide essential protein to those doing it tough. No one should face a crisis alone. The devastating floods in North Queensland have left communities isolated, homes damaged, and many without power for days. Our friends at Foodbank Queensland have already delivered 32 pallets of essential disaster relief supplies to affected communities and evacuation centres—and their work continues. Working alongside local disaster management groups and incredible organisations like Amazon, NAB, ADRA Townsville, and Food Relief NQ, they are making sure food, clean-up kits, and hygiene essentials reach those who need them most. With floodwaters still cutting off entire towns, more supplies are on the way by truck, barge, and helicopter. When the floodwater has receded, Foodbank will be there to support the communities on the long road to recovery. 💜Our hearts go out to everyone affected. #Foodbank #FloodRelief #QueenslandFloods #CommunitySupport

For 20 years, Woolworths Group and their supply chain arm, Primary Connect, have been invaluable partners in helping feed people in need throughout Australia and we couldn't be more grateful. In addition to donating food and household items from distribution centres across the country, Primary Connect plays a crucial role as one of Foodbank SA & NT’s largest pro bono transport providers. Their support ensures pallets of food and essentials are regularly delivered to Foodbank SA & NT's new Food Hub and Warehouse operation in Darwin. Thanks to this incredible partnership, Foodbank SA & NT has distributed more than 342,980kg of food relief across the Northern Territory, including to remote First Nations communities. #ThankYou #EndHunger Watch the inspiring video here:

Happy New Year, from all of us at Foodbank! 💜💜 As we reflect on another year, our gratitude for the incredible support of our partners and the community continues to grow. Disaster season brings a unique set of challenges, but we want to make sure that no community faces them alone. Foodbank Queensland, in partnership with Amazon Australia and Australian Red Cross, have supplied six Disaster Relief Supply Points with over 55,000 critical relief items to best prepare local communities when natural disasters strike. In Tasmania's Central Highlands, Foodbank Tasmania has been on the ground, providing Blaze Aid volunteers with fresh bread, drinking water, frozen meals, and emergency relief hampers. At Foodbank, ensuring communities have access to food and supplies during disaster season is just the beginning. We’re also here to support their recovery in the months—and sometimes years—that follow.
