MEGT was honoured to host Federal Minister for Skills and Training Andrew Giles at our Loganholme QLD office yesterday. Our Apprentice Connect Provider team enjoyed productive discussions with the Minister about the new Australian Apprenticeships Support Services contract and its’ impact on the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector. There was also recognition of the critical role Assessment Services plays in helping proactively identify and address challenges faced by employers and apprentices in the early stages of an apprenticeship. It was also a great opportunity to highlight the great work of our mentoring and personal support services teams in providing critical guidance for the entirety of the apprenticeship journey. A sincere thank you to the Minister for his visit to MEGT, and to see first-hand our commitment to working collaboratively with all apprentices, trainees and employers to ensure the best outcomes possible. ✨Bright Futures✨ Congratulations to Luke Van Helmond who has successfully completed a Certificate III in Business at the MEGT’s Transition to Work (TtW) Coomera office, overcoming personal barriers along the way.   In addition to supporting him through his traineeship, Luke's Youth Coach, Laura Shaw, and In Work Support Consultant, Ash O’Leary, were essential to help him get his provisional driver license by providing professional driving lessons. Now, they are working on a budget to help him save for his own car.  Laura said: “I couldn’t be prouder of Luke and all he has accomplished since joining the TtW program. Throughout the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector, there are individuals who work tirelessly to ensure that the journeys of Australian Apprentices (including trainees) run smoothly, and that everyone including employers get all the support they need. This is at the forefront of all MEGT does. Without our incredible and dedicated field operations teams, it wouldn’t be possible. As Field Operations Manager Nicole says: “Making a difference in someone’s life is what we are all about.” According to Field Operations Manager Pauline, communication is the most crucial factor in building strong customer relationships. "We respond to all enquiries promptly, do what we say we’re going to do within the timeframes we promise, and provide accurate information at all times”. One of the most critical factors which helps young Australian job seekers find work is having a drivers’ license. However, there are often financial and other barriers which make this process difficult. In Townsville QLD, the LearnIT Learner Driving Mentor Program has helped hundreds of largely young local jobseekers get their license. This program, supported by a network of volunteer driving instructors, relies on sponsorship to provide vehicles, fuel and other materials to keep it running successfully, MEGT CEO Matthew Hick and GM Strategy and Design Chris Dale took great pleasure in presenting LearnIT with $25,000 in sponsorship and a vehicle to help continue this important work. “What LearnIT has achieved since 2018 really caught our eye at MEGT. More than 7,500 hours of volunteer supervised driving experience, 227 licenses issued, and dozens of jobs secured thanks to the program’s success”, Matthew said. Congratulations to the volunteers and staff at Queensland Youth Services (QYS) for this important program, one which we're privileged to support. #Mentor #JobSeekers #QLDjobseekers People in this photo are (L-R) Wendy Lang, CEO Queensland Youth Services, Murray Holm, founder LearnIt Learner Driver Mentoring Program, and MEGT CEO Matthew Hick.
