Vikings is proud to run an apprenticeship program that not only helps young people obtain a qualification but also provides them with a supportive and encouraging workplace. Four years ago, Ethan stepped into the kitchen at Chisholm Vikings, to embark on his culinary journey. Fast forward to today, Ethan's hard work and dedication were celebrated as he officially received his qualification. Presented by Access Canberra and the Vikings team on Wednesday 20 November, this event marked a significant milestone in Ethan’s career. Executive Chef Ben shared, “After a lot of hard work, Ethan has earned himself a qualification that he will be able to take with him for the rest of his life. We are incredibly proud to have played a part in Ethan’s journey and to have watched him thrive in the heat of the kitchen.” To honour the occasion, Executive Chef Ben presented Ethan with a personalised chef jacket embroidered with his name and an engraved chef knife. Reflecting on his journey, Ethan shared, “My favourite thing about working in the kitchen is the adrenaline; I love working in a fast-paced environment.” If you are interested in being a part of our apprenticeship program at Vikings, please reach out to human.resources@vikings.com.au. Menslink Great Walk Update It’s Day 3 of the Menslink Great Walk, and our Chief Operations Officer, Karen Smith, is going strong in support of Menslink’s mission to uplift young men in our community. Here’s a recap of her journey so far: Day 1: Karen and the team started at Parliament House, covering 22 km through Red Hill and Isaacs Pines before finishing at Dave Smith’s office in Tuggeranong. Despite a blister and some soreness, she powered through! Day 2: They tackled a 24 km stretch from Tuggeranong to Weston Creek, showing resilience as they pushed through rain in Chapman. Today: They’re facing the biggest challenge yet, a 32 km trek from Tuggeranong to the Menslink office in Weston. Let’s show Karen and the team our support by cheering them on every step of the way and donating to this great cause. On Friday 1 November, Vikings Rugby hosted an unforgettable Rugby Lunch packed with great food, good laughs, and nonstop conversations about the game we all love. The room was full of energy, and we were honoured to welcome rugby legends Gordon Bray AM, Kristy Giteau, and Stirling Mortlock AM as our special guests. Kristy and Stirling captivated us with their inspiring stories - from playing on local fields to reaching the big leagues - sharing unique insights into what makes the sport so special. They spoke straight from the heart, highlighting how vital it is to nurture rugby at the grassroots level to keep our game thriving for generations to come. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and made this event a success. Our community spirit was alive and well, and we can’t wait to do it all again! #community #rugby
