Voice grantee partners and rightsholders from 13 countries recently gathered in Bangkok, Thailand, for the Global Linking and Learning Festival, organised by The Constellation - Community Life Competence. The event, themed “Now Us – Celebrating our Contributions towards an Inclusive Society,” marked the conclusion of Voice’s two-year Linking and Learning journey and celebrated eight years of the Voice programme. Throughout the week, participants shared experiences and insights on fostering inclusion across various vulnerable groups. The festival featured dynamic learning exchanges, discussions, and showcased remarkable strides made in advocacy and empowerment. As the festival concluded, grantee partners crafted joint action plans, igniting new initiatives for an inclusive world where every voice is heard. #NOWUs #GlobalLinkingAndLearning #VoiceClosure

  • The Constellation will turn 20 this year! An excellent opportunity to think through which changes are needed to sustain the organisation into the future. So that communities, facilitators and supporters in our network can continue to connect and grow together.   Grateful for the start of the conversations around organisational change, in Bangkok at a face to face opportunity. The explorative exercise will continue through online engagements with network members in the months to come.

  • “The true disability is when people are aware of what is right, understand their rights, but never stand up and fight for them”. “We are not supposed to be left out. We should not be hiding and stay silent. If we are not there, we cannot be included. So we have to participate”. The launch of the Visual Journey Film (CHAMBUA PROJECT - Inclusive Taxation and Public Participation) opened authentic sharings about experiences by People Living with Disability. The film is made with handphones by newly trained filmmakers (Ann Musembi, Priscillah Musumbi, Sudi Mohammed, Susan Nafula). The training was done by Jessica Rossi as part of the Visual Journey project that The Constellation is implementing with multi-country grantees of Voice. Exploring our strengths, our diversity and our commonalities as human beings; Learn Visits to local community groups; a Market Place that showcases good practices and eventually application reflections for What is Next. Over the years The Constellation keeps developing its signature elements as our teams are facilitating Learning Festivals with old and new partners. In February a team of The Constellation facilitators took on the challenge of organising and facilitating the Global Linking and Learning Festival for 70 persons in Maputo, Mozambique: staff, partners and rightsholders of the HIVOS We Lead programme. Grateful to partners Hivos AMODEFA for this adventure!

  • Everyone should know and experience that you are never alone. “I am also a human, loved and respected in my Community” is the beautiful lesson from Agnes that came out from a touching Learn Visit to her and her community. When she thought she was alone, living with Albinism in a community in Uganda, a peer from Albinism Umbrella reached out to her. Then, strengthened by the fact that she was no longer alone she grew out to be a connector and a much loved and respected member of her community. This Learn visit was done in the context of the Linking and Learning process for Voice multicountry grantees. Albinism Umbrella was hosting the event, and Eunice and Arthur (SALTy Link and Learn facilitators) supported the exchanges. Other grantees and The Constellation members joined the visit via an online connection. Albinism Umbrella Voice
