📜#CleanH2ProductionPathways: Policy recommendations for the #LowCarbon Delegated Act Low-carbon #hydrogen has a key role in the #EUGreenDeal and in the #REPowerEU plan and is an essential piece of the emerging #hydrogeneconomy, which has a significant role in the #energytransition. Especially in the market ramp-up phase, low-carbon hydrogen will be required for several #decarbonisation purposes, where #renewablehydrogen is not yet available in sufficient quantities or at sufficiently affordable prices. An upcoming delegated act will focus on the life-cycle emissions of low-carbon hydrogen: #H2Europe has worked extensively on policy recommendations on the topic, which can be summarised in: ➡ Our position paper on the topic 📑https://lnkd.in/es7jeKwf ➡ And in the chart below ⬇ Read the full report to know more 👉 https://lnkd.in/dBqReVdv

🌍 The European Hydrogen Valleys Investment Forum in Riga was a huge success! We're thrilled with the strong commitment shown by the Latvian Ministry of Economics, which has pledged to take a leading role in the deployment of the #hydrogen sector. ⛰ Why are #HydrogenValleys so critical? ➡ Projects can only attract #investors if there is confidence that their products will be bought at the scale they plan to produce. This is especially true for #cleanhydrogen, a rapidly growing sector. ➡ Building a new supply chain for hydrogen takes time, and Hydrogen Valleys are key to accelerating this process by concentrating infrastructure and markets within a single geography. This allows to test technologies fast, and to co build products with customers, in alignment with market needs. ➡ While individual projects can find ways to access capital, convincing mainstream investors becomes easier when they see that #investment is flowing into a region from multiple sources. 🚀 Hydrogen Valleys also provide an ideal environment for #startups and #innovators to deploy and test their technologies at scale. They are the perfect "labs" for #innovation! 👏 We were impressed by the quality of the pitches from the 10 selected valleys and 30 cutting-edge companies, with a big applause for the 8 award winners! The interest from global investors in the clean #hydrogenmarket was palpable, signalling a bright future for the sector. #HydrogenValleys #CleanEnergy #Innovation #Investment #Riga2024 🤝 Organisers: #H2Europe, Tech Tour, Latvian Hydrogen Association, and Clean Hydrogen Partnership 🤝 Partners: ORLEN S.A. As part of the GET H2 Nukleus project, RWE is building a 300-megawatt plant for producing #greenhydrogen on the site of its gas-fired power plant in Lingen. Two of the three #electrolysers with a capacity of 100 megawatts (MW) each which are due to be installed there had already been ordered by RWE from Linde Engineering and ITM Power in 2022. Now RWE has commissioned Sunfire and Bilfinger to build the third construction phase. The contract amount is in the low hundred-million-euro range. 🚛 Together with AVERE - The European Association for Electromobility, European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) and Transport & Environment (T&E) we call on EU Member States to swiftly adopt a General Approach on the revision of the Weights and Dimensions Directive by the end of 2024, ensuring consistency with previously adopted EU legislation. ➡ This revision must focus on levelling the playing field for #zeroemission heavy-duty vehicles by giving them full access to the road network across the territory of the #EuropeanUnion ➡ This is crucial to enable the use of zero emission trucks and buses on European roads and speed up the transition towards #cleanmobility Download our joint letter here 👉 https://lnkd.in/enP8aFi5

🚀#CleanH2ProductionPathways: Other technologies The latest #H2Europe report focuses on 5️⃣ #cleanhydrogen production pathways of the many available, but there are also others worth mentioning. ➡#Solarthermochemical: once it is technologically mature, it would allow to use the full spectrum of #solar radiation, delivering low-cost and abundant #hydrogen. ➡#LPG pyrolysis: especially attractive for areas that are not connected to the #naturalgas network, its emissions can be even further reduced if bio-LPG or e-LPG are used. ➡#Naturalhydrogen: potentially a breakthrough #renewable resource, with millions of tonnes generated worldwide. ➡Hydrogen as a by-product: supplying circa one third of the hydrogen used in industrial processes, it is an important source of hydrogen. In the table below are a few key features of these production methods ⬇ Read the full report to know more 👉 https://lnkd.in/dBqReVdv

🙌 The final text of The Future of European #Competitiveness report was officially presented today by former Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi and incoming European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. The report, which was highly anticipated, involved extensive consultations with stakeholders across all sectors of society to identify major barriers to competitiveness in Europe, and offers concrete recommendations to tackle obstacles to innovation, high energy prices, funding needs, regulatory simplification, and the urgent need for digitalisation and defence capacities. #Hydrogen is recognised in the report as a transformative technology that will play a pivotal role in driving European competitiveness. Due to the structural changes that #Europe will face in the upcoming decade, the hydrogen sector should build upon and extend frameworks that have proven to be effective, such as the #HydrogenBank and #HydrogenValleys, but also bring elements of novelty and rationalisation when it comes to legislation, governance and the financial firepower to achieve ambitions. #H2Europe is calling on the EU institutions, particularly the upcoming Commission and Member States, to demonstrate strong commitment and synergies to push for clear, ambitious objectives to position hydrogen as a cornerstone in #energy, #industry, and competitiveness policies for the next political cycle. This must be done cooperatively with other key #netzero sectors. ♻#CleanH2ProductionPathways: Non-biological waste-to-hydrogen Let’s plunge into this hydrogen production pathway in the latest #H2Europe report! Non-recyclable waste, namely plastic, can be used for #hydrogen production. It represents a useful technology, with the advantage of helping contain #landfilling and avoiding #incineration. While it would be difficult to use it for large-scale applications, mobility and small-scale industry can be valid users of this technology. Spoilers of this chapter include: ➡Non-biological waste-to-hydrogen can support local #decarbonisation ➡It offers possibilities of synergies with local #districtheating applications ➡With increasing deployment and declining #CAPEX, hydrogen produced from plastic could reach 4 EUR/kg Read the full report to know more 👉 https://lnkd.in/dBqReVdv
