🚨 What Happens When a Humanitarian Cluster Deactivates? 🚨  In some contexts of emergency response, clusters play a vital role in a time bounded coordinating humanitarian action. They build and transfer coordination capacity, so what happens next? A smooth and structured transition is needed to ensure that critical services continue without gaps.  📢 Why does it matter?  A poorly planned transition can create gaps in response. ·      Emphasizing capacity building and collaboration with existing systems is pivotal in humanitarian endeavors. ·      Coordination between humanitarian and development entities is vital in both prolonged crises and sudden emergencies. UPCOMING session during #HNPW25 👇🏽

👀 A few snapshots from our recent IYCF-E training with key actors involved in the 𝗦𝘂𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗴𝗲𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲! Over five days in Bakara-Ndjamena (Chad), governments and cluster partners –including LNAs, INGOs, UNICEF, and WHO– came together to strengthen capacity on 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗘𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀 (𝗜𝗬𝗖𝗙-𝗘). Participants included those responding to the Sudanese humanitarian emergency in Eastern Chad and the recent floods in the capital, N'Djamena 💦 Led by GNC Programme Advisor - CMAM, Martha Nakakande, this in-person training was an 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗬𝗖𝗙-𝗘 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻. While structures and strategies for IYCF exist, applying them in emergency contexts has often been limited due to gaps in capacity to operationalise IYCF-E. These sessions helped bridge that gap, equipping participants with the knowledge and tools needed to enhance the overall IYCF-E response. 💡 Here are a few 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 from our recent SBC strategy-development workshops in Ethiopia: 🌱 𝗢𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻: Religious leaders proposed solutions to ensure diet diversity for pregnant and breastfeeding women during fasting periods. 📢 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗕𝗲𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲: Reducing women’s household workload emerged as a top priority. To drive action, we integrated local sayings and quotes emphasising the importance of adequate feeding and care for women in the key messages. 💬 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹-𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁: A participant immediately applied his learnings by encouraging his wife to prepare more diverse meals – and she did the very next day! These workshops, led by our SBC Advisor Sona Sharma under SNV’s Horti LIFE III project, brought together voices from 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗮 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘀 to co-create solutions for managing complex cultural norms and improving #nutrition.
