🌍We are back from this year's World Agri-Tech Innovation Summit in London, one of the premier events for agriculture and farming enthuiast in Europe. The summit was a unique stage to explore groundbreaking innovations, regulatory targets, and high-level collaborations critical for catalysing change and bringing high impact solutions to scale. AgNews | BASF Agricultural Solutions’ first CO2-emission-free production site is a reality! 🎆 We are excited to share that the BASF Production site in Rudong, China has reduced CO2 emissions to zero. The existing steam heating system was decommissioned and fully replaced with electricity generated from renewable energy, resulting in an additional CO2 emission reduction of around 1,100 tons per year. 📉 Together with a local energy supplier we have procured renewable energy via a long-term agreement. As a result, the crop protection formulation facility in the Chinese province of Jiangsu is the first site of BASF’s Agricultural Solutions segment to be CO2 emission-free. ✅ This achievement emphasizes our ongoing ambition of achieving net zero CO2 emissions globally by 2050 and to deliver on the demand for low-emission, and high quality crop protection products. #BASFInAg #SustainableAgriculture #AgInnovation

🌱 How can Project Fortress support farmers in finding sustainable, and innovative solutions? 🤝 Together with farmer Williams Pitts, we have been collecting and researching how we can effectively manage the soil on farm fields such as The Grange Farm. This partnership has been running for over 15 years and together we are analyzing what practices farmers could introduce to manage the impact of climate change and see a significant improvement in soil health, and biodiversity. 🧑🌾 We can help farmers like William Pitts to scale up Project Fortress and use the findings as a basis to spread out to other farmers. This year's World Cotton Day is special for us. Today, we celebrate not only cotton as the fabric of our lives but also the 10th anniversary of the Certified Sustainable FiberMax® (CSF) program in Greece. Over the past decade, CSF has united more than 1,500 Greek cotton farmers around a shared vision: to produce sustainable, traceable, and high-quality cotton. Throughout this journey, these farmers have adopted climate-smart approaches and developed practices that reduced inputs and maintained productivity. For us, sustainable cotton truly connects us all, regardless of age or region. How can farmers find long-term solutions for soil health? Project Fortress is a multi-year project conducted to investigate how we can restore the soil at The Grange Farm by increasing soil carbon sequestration and storage in the field. The sequestration of carbon in farm soil is a process in which the stocks of soil carbon increase over time and is seen as an important way to mitigate climate change through agriculture. Different methods have been used for the field to improve soil health, such as the use of crop rotations, cultivations and inputs over multiple years.
