Did you know that at Gattefossé, it all began with the development of raw materials for perfumers? 🌸 This love of perfumery was formalized in a magazine launched in 1908 by René Maurice Gattefossé: La Parfumerie Moderne. 📰 The aim of this magazine was to support the interests of the French perfume industry by giving a voice to all those involved: perfumers, lavender growers, Grasse industrialists, agronomic engineers, manufacturers, chemists, botanists, agronomists... 🌿🔬 The magazine discussed extraction processes, cultivation methods, various recipes, and Gattefossé's research work. It was a true reference for the profession until 1964! 📚 60 years later, this thirst for knowledge continues with Addiactive: a magazine for players in the cosmetics world that presents scientific information, beauty trends, and examples of formulations using Gattefossé actives and ingredients. #gattefossé #perfumery #history

No holidays for the bees at Gattefossé headquarters! 🌸🐝 A year ago, three new beehives were installed in our garden, away from the main building. Our little workers haven't taken a break since! Last Friday, Philippe, our beekeeper, came to ensure everything is going well. Good news: the bees are thriving, and the honey harvest looks promising! 🍯 While we eagerly anticipate the honey, it's important to remember that bees, with their crucial role as pollinators, are fundamental to the continued development of many species. #Gattefossé #Beekeeping

At Gattefossé, we are proud to see our affiliates actively engage in solidarity actions. Here is a heartfelt overview of the three most recent initiatives undertaken by our colleagues around the world in recent weeks: 🇮🇹 Gattefossé Italy: Digital Challenge to support the NGO Action Against Hunger From the 13th of May to the 7h of June 2024, Gattefossé Italy renewed its support to the association Action Against Hunger | ACF-USA and took part in a 4-week-challenge #Connectedagainsthunger practicing daily sport activities and learning more about the efforts carried out to address the issue of world hunger and its interconnection with climate change. 🇬🇧 Gattefossé UK: Cooking for the most vulnerable In June, the team took a day away from the office to join Cook for Good, a community kitchen tackling poverty and food insecurity. They spent the day cooking a wide range of delicious dishes which were then shared with rough sleepers and local vulnerable residents. 🇧🇷 Gattefossé Brazil helps flood victims in southern Brazil In May 2024, the state of Rio Grande do Sul in southern Brazil was hit by one of the worst climatic disasters in its history, leaving at least 157 people dead, 88 missing and 540,000 evacuated. These repeated deadly floods are a direct result of climate change and the El Nino phenomenon. The Gattefossé Brazil team acted promptly, gathering blankets, bath towels, hygiene products and adult diapers as part of their initiative to support elderly people this year. They also organized the logistics to ensure these items reached the appropriate association. We are delighted to announce that Gattefossé has chosen Rhenus Logistics as its new logistics provider and becomes the first customer of their new warehouse in Saint-Quentin Fallavier, Nord-Isère. 🎉 This 18,000 m² warehouse, certified BREEAM Excellent, has been designed with special attention to respecting local biodiversity and overall energy management. 🔹 🔹 Decarbonized Logistics: The warehouse has been designed to offer logistics as decarbonized as possible. It is equipped with a low-carbon boiler combining geothermal energy, photovoltaic panels, and Building Management Systems using artificial intelligence. These technological innovations allow substantial energy savings and significant reductions in CO2 emissions. 🔹 Biodiversity Preservation: Specific developments and compensatory measures have been implemented to preserve the site's biodiversity. Nos produits issus de l'usine de Saint-Priest, ainsi que nos produits de négoce, seront désormais stockés dans l’entrepôt SQF6 de Rhenus, à température ambiante et dans l’une des chambres à température dirigée du site, avant d’être distribués dans plus de 65 pays. Our products from the Saint-Priest factory, as well as our trading products, will now be stored in the Rhenus SQF6 warehouse, at ambient temperature and in one of the site's temperature-controlled rooms, before being distributed to over 65 countries. Last week was all about sports and solidarity at Gattefossé! 🏃♂️🚴♀️ In celebration of Quality of Life at Work Week, around 60 employees took on a sports and solidarity challenge organized by Groupe Clarins. Their goal? To walk or cycle as many kilometers as possible in support of the Fondation Arthritis , which funds French medical research on rheumatism and musculoskeletal diseases. 💪 We covered over 3,500 km, demonstrating our commitment to a cause that is close to our hearts. A big congratulations to all participants for their energy and solidarity! Thank you to Groupe Clarins for this wonderful initiative and to everyone who helped make this week a success. 🌏 At Gattefossé, we act directly in the territories where we operate and source our raw materials, such as in Indonesia. Since 2022, with other companies, we have been providing financial support to Kaleka's Mosaik initiative through Action for Sustainable Derivatives' Impact Fund. This project aids indigenous communities in two of the largest palm-producing districts in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. 🌿 This Impact Fund helps to protect and restore landscapes, improve the lives of workers and communities, meet the needs of smallholders for responsible practices, and help communities adopt and scale models of regenerative agriculture. 🌱 Some results in 2023: 👉 610 farmers have been certified by RSPO and 204 farmers in two villages have been involved in the certification process.  👉 2,732 ha of forest in two villages have been protected   through the Social Forestry and Village Regulation schemes.  👉 100 ha of dregaded land in three villages have been replanted.  👉 One village provided with alternatives to promote fire-free agricultural practices Supporting this actions illustrate our commitment to a responsible approach around the raw material that we source and the local communities. Today, more than ever, companies have a role to play in the communities around them. We all have a duty to contribute to the common good, and to implement responsible practices throughout the value chain of our products. Gattefossé is delighted and honored to have welcomed INPI France to our manufacturing site in Saint Priest, Mmes Elisabeth DELALANDE, Regional Delegate AURA, Caroline Duverne Patonnier, Business Manager AURA, & Mr François-Xavier de Beaufort, Director of Economic action,  to visit our factory, R&D and applications laboratories. This was an opportunity to exchange about our accomplishments in Intellectual Property management and the protection of our inventions since the masterclass held in 2021/22, in presence of our IP engineer Melinda Terbaoui, Virginie Charton, Jean-David Rodier, Paula Lennon et Ségolène MOYRAND.
