On November 19, 2024, our Managing Partner, Nathaniel Mangunsong was invited to deliver a negotiation training session from legal perspective for Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR). The event, hosted by Vicario Reinaldo took place at the Pertamina Training Center and brought together professionals eager to refine their negotiation expertise. The training was attended by around 20 Vice Presidents (VPs) and Senior Managers on-site, while more than 100 Managerial level employees joined virtually via Microsoft Teams. The session explored key strategies for navigating challenging negotiations in high-stakes environments, sparking meaningful discussions among participants. We’re pleased to have supported CarbonEthics in raising USD 2.1 million in Seed funding led by Intudo Ventures along with other investors. This funding empowers CarbonEthics to expand its suite of high-quality, nature-based carbon projects across Indonesia, leveraging technology and local expertise to address critical environmental challenges. Founded in 2019, CarbonEthics is dedicated to achieving measurable impact through ecosystem restoration, carbon reduction, and community support. With this investment, the company will broaden its work with stakeholders in the private sector, government, and NGOs to co-develop projects that drive decarbonization, enhance biodiversity, and uplift local communities. By 2030, CarbonEthics aims to protect 8 million hectares of land, sequester over 160 million tonnes of CO2e, and create sustainable economic opportunities for thousands of beneficiaries.

It was an honor for me to present my research and observation the matters of Start-up Governance in Indonesia as part of the seminar on Indonesian Corporate Law and Governance: Expert Analysis on Timely Issues held by CCLA SMU at Singapore Management University on Tuesday, 27 August 2024. This seminar bridged academic research with practical insights, fostering invaluable discussions on Indonesia's evolving legal and corporate environment, especially in the startup sector. I would like to thank all speakers, panelists and contributors Pey Woan Lee, Royhan Akbar, Xavier Amadei, and with special mentions the great duo panelists Kelvin Goh and Kyle Lee whom we had interesting discussions on the reality of startup governance on the ground including balancing the interests and needs of investors, founders, and the idea of having an independent board to balance those. Really grateful for the support and guidance of Prof Yetty Komalasari of Fakultas Hukum Universitas Indonesia, and Prof Dan W. Puchniak who also host this event with the excellent support from SMU Yong Pung How School of Law.
