🌟 Highlights from APSIC 2024! 🌟 We are thrilled to share the incredible success of Yayasan Project HOPE's symposium at the Asia Pacific Society of Infection Control (APSIC) event. Titled "Enhancing Infection Prevention and Control Using Evidence-Based Practices," our presentation showcased significant advancements in improving infection prevention and control (IPC) across Indonesian healthcare facilities. The symposium began with Alia Hartanti setting the stage as the moderator, skillfully guiding the discussions and ensuring a seamless flow of insights. The first speaker, Cheyenne Smith, captivated the audience with an engaging overview of our project titled "Saving Lives of Healthcare Workers Program". She emphasized the utilization of the WHO IPC Assessment Framework (IPCAF) in targeted health facilities, detailing the significant improvements in IPCAF scores that have been achieved through our initiatives. Following Cheyenne, Shanty Pawanti took the floor to present her comprehensive analysis on "The Systems Environment: Regulatory, Budgetary, and Surveillance Needs and Challenges Hindering Effective Reporting of Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAIs) in Indonesian Hospitals". Her qualitative analysis shed light on the critical barriers and proposed practical solutions, resonating deeply with the audience and highlighting the systemic challenges that need to be addressed. Our symposium highlighted key accomplishments, including the comprehensive assessment of IPC practices in hospitals and puskesmas, impressive improvements in IPC scores, and the successful implementation of evidence-based practices to reduce infection transmission. We also identified significant regulatory, budgetary, and surveillance challenges that hinder effective reporting of healthcare-associated infections. We extend our heartfelt thanks to APSIC and INASIC for providing a platform to share our work and to all attendees for their support and engagement. Together, let's continue to build a safer and healthier future! Empowering Expectant Mothers Through Mental Health Support "As a midwife trained by Yayasan Project HOPE in the PINTAR project, I'm deeply passionate about holistic care for pregnant women. It's a privilege to not only provide medical guidance but also address the crucial aspect of mental well-being," says Wiwin Rohmawati, Pelopor Midwife from Klaten District. In collaboration with Indonesian Midwife Association from Klaten District Branch, Bantul District Branch and Bandung City Branch, all together with support from District Health Offices from these three districts and city, we're facilitating mental health support groups that create a safe haven for expectant mothers. These groups foster connection, understanding, and empowerment, reminding us that a healthy pregnancy encompasses both physical and emotional well-being. PINTAR (Program Ibu Indonesia Tangguh dan Sehat Raga), implemented in Bantul, Klaten, and Bandung City since June 2022, is a two-year project dedicated to improving access to mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) services for these women. To date, 1785 health care workers (midwives, nurses, doctors) and cadres have been trained by Yayasan Project HOPE on Maternal Mental Health. One of our key initiatives is integrating peer support activities into existing Pregnant Mother Classes at the Puskesmas (community health center) level. This innovative approach fosters a safe and supportive environment where women can connect, share experiences, and build resilience together. The recent mental health support group, posted by Bidan (Midwife) Wiwin in her Instagram, is a shining example of PINTAR's impact. Witnessing the strength and camaraderie among these women reaffirms the importance of addressing both physical and emotional well-being during this transformative journey. PINTAR is made possible with the generous support of Give2Asia, Johnson & Johnson Foundation, and Project HOPE. A special shoutout to the dedicated YPH team, Dimas T., and Avie Adriansyah, for their tireless efforts in bringing this vital program to life. #MaternalMentalHealth #Midwifery #ProjectHOPE #PINTARProject #PrenatalCare #PostpartumCare

Empowering Midwives in Klaten: A Success Story Yayasan Project HOPE is thrilled to share the outstanding results of our recent PINTAR Midwives Training in Klaten District! Building on the success of our previous four trainings in this district, these two new batches, held from June 24-27, focused on maternal mental health and were the first to be registered through the innovative Plataran Sehat platform. The impact was undeniable: a remarkable 91.5% increase in knowledge across all 60 participants, with every single midwife in these two batches demonstrating significant improvement. These results highlight the effectiveness of our training program and the dedication of the midwives to enhancing their skills. But it's not just about the numbers. The passion and enthusiasm displayed by the midwives throughout the training were truly inspiring. Their commitment to providing exceptional care for mothers and babies in Klaten is at the heart of Yayasan Project HOPE's mission. We extend our deepest gratitude to our partners at the Klaten District Health Office, IBI Klaten, the PELOPOR Midwives who were involved from the beginning in developing the training materials, organizing and delivering the training, Dr. dr. Warih Andan Puspitosari, M.Kes., Sp.KJ(K) as the expert trainer, and Plataran Sehat for their invaluable support in making this training a resounding success.
