In low-income families, adolescent girls often face immense challenges in accessing basic nutrition. Many of these girls grow up without enough food, leading to malnutrition, anemia, and stunted growth. Their dreams and potential are often overshadowed by the struggle to simply survive. But with the collaboration between Swarachna and Feeding India , we're turning the tide. The girls at our hostel now receive nutritious meals every day, helping them grow healthy and strong. On International Youth Day, UPCEG brought together an incredible lineup for an eye-opening webinar on "From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development"! Ms. Ruchita Chaudhary, IPS and Women & Safety Expert addressed cyber crimes and responsible social media use, while Ms. Indu Gautam, Former District Programme Coordinator for Mahila Samakhya, explored career opportunities in the digital age. Ms. Tanmai, Programme Head of the Gyan Setu Project, highlighted digital literacy’s impact in rural areas, and Abha Singh, advocate and social activist, introduced Tele-Law for accessible legal support. In many rural parts of India, adolescent girls face serious hurdles that hold them back from reaching their full potential. These girls often struggle with limited access to education, face early marriage, and encounter deep-seated gender biases. Even as we enjoy the freedoms and advancements of our nation, many of these young women are still fighting for the basics: a chance to learn, grow, and dream without limits. Their struggles are a reminder that our journey toward true independence isn’t complete until every girl has the opportunity to thrive. Our team explored critical topics such as cyberbullying, cyberstalking, revenge porn, and deep fakes, gaining a deeper understanding of these issues and their implications. On the occasion of #InternationalYouthDay, we celebrate an incredible young #achiever! At just 17, Shreshti Awasthi from Hardoi has overcome significant challenges to achieve her dreams. Despite facing financial difficulties before joining Milaan as a Girl Icon, Shreshti’s dedication and hard work have led her to impressive accomplishments. Her passion for taekwondo has taken her to international competitions—an extraordinary achievement for her age. Though she faced criticism, Shreshti remained focused and determined. Milaan played a crucial role in her journey by providing her with essential support through our alumni network. This support helped her secure a coaching position with Ripples of Hopes, where she teaches taekwondo to girls in her community, sharing her passion and skills. Milaan’s guidance and mentorship from the alumni network helped Shreshti turn her financial challenges into opportunities for growth.
