JSEC's Commander Lieutenant General Kai Rohrschneider warmly welcomed Major General Ruprecht von Butler, Commander of NATO's Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) in the Wilhelmsburg Barracks. The talks focused on the transformation of JSEC into an operational #warfighting headquarters, and how #JWC can support our young command to become warfighting-capable. The visit underlines the close cooperation between Stavanger and Ulm. Currently, the two commands are working on the final preparations for part two of wargaming exercise STEADFAST FOXTROT 2024/2025 (STFX 24/25), which is the ultimate training for NATO’s #enablement community at the strategic, operational and tactical level. STFX24/25 demonstrates NATO’s commitment to maintaining an agile defence posture in the Euro-Atlantic area, focusing on the large-scale deployment of NATO forces in #SACEUR’s area of responsibility and their sustainment. Participants attending Exercise STEADFAST DETERRENCE 2025 (STDC25) Strategy Workshop at NATO Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) included Mr Jay Janzen, NATO - Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) J10 Strategic Communications Director. The JWC-directed command post exercise supports NATO’s “deter and defend” strategy, which focuses on stronger command and control, advanced capabilities, high-readiness forces, and a robust military posture. Mr Janzen elaborated on the evolving nature of #communication in our fast-changing security landscape and underlined the importance of readiness to confront threats within the information environment. The strategic communications effort for STDC25 involves a #cognitive campaign based on the exercise scenario. “NATO strategic communications aims to combine powerful demonstrations of #multidomain military activities, such as STEADFAST DETERRENCE 2025, together with focused and compelling communications,” Mr Janzen said. During the all-hands call on January 15, Spanish Army Chief Warrant Officer Raúl Á. Villanueva was announced as NATO Joint Warfare Centre's (JWC) Military Member of the Year (MMOY) 2024. Chief Warrant Officer Villanueva received the prestigious award from Major General Ruprecht von Butler, Commander JWC. Major General von Butler thanked Chief Warrant Officer Villanueva for his dedication and outstanding work for the JWC, serving as a member of the Real Life Support Branch under the Support Directorate. “Receiving this recognition is not only a great source of pride for me, but it is also an acknowledgment for Spain. This award pushes me to improve every day to be worthy of the excellent group of professionals that make up the JWC,” said Chief Warrant Officer Villanueva. He added: “I would like to express my deepest gratitude for the continuous support that the entire Real Life Support team provides. This distinction would not have been possible without them.
