We're proud to share that Tarmac was the recipient of a series of award wins at the prestigious Mineral Products Association Quarries & Nature 2025 Awards, last week. Not only did we take home the Restoration Award for the transformation of Langford Quarry, a project delivered in partnership with the RSPB, but our collaboration with Cranfield University also earned the Innovation Award. In addition, the planned restoration of Wivenhoe Quarry and the landscape-scale restoration work at Dry Rigg and Arcow quarries were both highly commended. Congratulations to all involved! We were proud to collaborate with the RBLI (Royal British Legion Industries) for our most recent 'Listen and Learn' session, bringing together colleagues from across Tarmac to explore the vital role of social enterprises and the importance of inclusion through the Armed Forces Covenant. This session provided valuable insights into how we can strengthen our support for veterans, champion diverse talent, and embed social value across our operations by working with organisations like RBLI. Key highlights included:  - An overview from RBLI’s Head of Sales, Melanie Lay, on the incredible work of their social enterprise factories and how partnering with businesses like ours helps create meaningful employment opportunities for veterans.  - An update on Tarmac’s journey to becoming a Gold Armed Forces Covenant signatory, shared by our National Resourcing Manager, Suzie Bateson, highlighting how we can all play a part in supporting those who have served.  - A collaborative Q&A exploring how we identify new opportunities with social enterprises and drive wider awareness across our teams. As Suzie Batson emphasised: "We know the talent is out there - veterans, reservists, cadet volunteers. And many already work within our business. But there’s so much more potential to unlock, and it starts with understanding the value they bring and making space for these conversations." James Fletcher reinforced the impact of collective action: "There is a huge amount of momentum behind our work supporting veterans, but there’s still so much more to do. Working together with organisations like Tarmac means we can make an even bigger difference, creating life-changing opportunities for those who need it most." A big thank you to all our speakers, including James Fletcher, Melanie Lay, Kirsten Kobrin, Graham Waters, Clive Johnson and Suzie Batson, and to everyone who joined the session. By continuing to listen, learn, and collaborate, we can build a truly inclusive workforce that leaves a lasting legacy.

Great to be at the Lower Thames Crossing Construction Leadership Council’s Five Client Carbon Commitments event last week to discuss how suppliers and clients can work together to achieve net zero.  At Tarmac, we’re already supporting the transition with low carbon concrete solutions like CEVO that help clients reduce emissions. But for real change, we need scale and certainty. Seeing three more organisations sign up to the Five Client Carbon Commitments is really good to see - collaboration is key to driving progress. https://lnkd.in/eKCAcnsj

Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. For the Heads of the Valleys project, 250,000 tonnes of aggregates came from our Circular Solution Aggregate sourced from Port Talbot. By using recycled materials, we’re reducing waste and contributing to a more sustainable future.  Find out more about our circular construction solutions, here: https://lnkd.in/ewwGYHDr

Earlier this month at our Elstow site, we handed over the keys to our all female team. To celebrate International Women's Day, our ready-mix and asphalt plants were run entirely by our fantastic female team, and we welcomed two brilliant schools to see it all in action.   From loading shovels to control rooms, it was all about showing what’s possible with a bit of confidence and a lot of curiosity.   Big thanks to everyone who made this happen, and to the next generation who might just be driving our industry forward.
