A fantastic tour of YY London with The London Society & guests today! The tour, lead by Associate Director Adam Whitlock Wood & Head of Sustainability Rachael Owens, focused on our innovative approach to sustainable redevelopment - from our 'retain and reuse' strategy saving 10,260 tonnes of carbon, to highlight a series of “re-greening” initiatives, such as green roofs & terraces on each floor and a serene communal rooftop garden, which blends nature with city life while enhancing biodiversity. OneMountain Media were on hand to capture all the best bits! Stay tuned for some amazing footage showcasing this remarkable project's journey Special thanks to Quadrant and Knight Frank Promise, for their support in bringing this together. There will be another tour date announced soon for later in the year - keep your eyes peeled over at www.londonsociety.org.uk 👀 #BGY #YYLondon #CanaryWharf #Architecture #Sustainability #WorkplaceDesign #RegreeningLondon

Architecture and Planning
We are agents of opportunity who create architecture and interior design that balances depth with delight.
About us
Buckley Gray Yeoman are Shoreditch originals. Based in east London since the practice was established in 1997, we create architecture and interior design that balances depth and delight. We describe ourselves as agents of opportunity. We take what we find – on the ground and in the brief – and uncover unanticipated possibilities. The changes we deliver are executed with a strong sense of responsibility to our clients, but we never forget that design must also make you feel good. Our work is sensitive, thorough and authentic, but it is also unapologetically joyful and surprising. Our family has grown from a group of three friends to a team of almost a hundred, which now has collective ownership of the practice. We have also spread our geographical wings, delivering projects across the UK and Europe, each carefully tuned to its own specific place and time. Making buildings with both depth and delight demands a very special kind of studio culture. Ours promotes trust, cultivates talent and celebrates independent thought because, like all Shoreditch originals, we enjoy sitting just the right side of unconventional.

Today we had the pleasure of attending the launch of Fritz Hansen's exquisite 'Monolit' collection - a masterclass in Danish design, featuring an intimate conversation with acclaimed designer Cecilie Manz. Thank you FRITZ HANSEN for hosting us at such an inspiring event 🤍 Over a wonderful lunch, Cecilie shared insights into her design philosophy and creative process. Her thoughtful approach to materiality and form, paired with Fritz Hansen's dedication to timeless design, creates something truly exceptional. The Monolit collection perfectly embodies this vision - striking an impeccable balance between form and function, while showcasing extraordinary materiality and craftsmanship. Speaking of... watch this space! 👀 We're so happy to have been able to incorporate these beauties into an exciting new project, launching later this year! #InteriorDesign #DesignExcellence #FritzHansen #DanishDesign #CecilieManz #Furniture #DesignInspiration #LondonDesign #BGY

The Billiards Building (formerly known as 134 Edmund Street), a recently refurbished commercial building in the heart of Birmingham’s CBD, has been selected as a Finalist for the British Council for Offices (BCO) Regional Awards 2025 in Best Refurbishment Project category. The Billiards Building is Birmingham’s first listed net zero office building, comprising 123,000 sqft (NIA) of office space. Extensively refurbished to become all-electric, the building’s environmental performance has been significantly improved, achieving an EPC rating of A and net zero in construction. The project prioritised retaining much of the existing structure, making targeted interventions only where necessary. Features such as low-energy lighting and provisions for electric cars ensure its future-readiness. The refurbished building has an equivalent energy use intensity representing a 67% reduction in energy usage, which will reduce its carbon emissions by 52% annually—the equivalent of taking 93 petrol cars off the road. Enhancements include a striking triple-height atrium, modernised office floors, and exceptional amenities such as a commuter suite, gym, wellness hub, café, and business lounge. A communal terrace on the ninth floor offers level access for all tenants. This project perfectly balances historical conservation with sustainability and functionality. Congratulations to everyone involved, and good luck at the awards! Client: Grosvenor Photography: Matt Chisnall #BCOAwards2025 #Refurbishment #Birmingham #SustainableDesign #Architecture

We are delighted to continue our collaboration with New London Architecture (NLA) this year; a leading voice in shaping the future of London’s built environment. Our commitment to meaningful design and innovation is reflected in the involvement of three of our senior team members: Oliver Bayliss, Managing Director, will be part of the New London Sounding Board, collaborating with a network of industry leaders and community voices to shape the New London Agenda—a visionary framework addressing the city’s most pressing challenges and opportunities. Rachael Owens, Head of Sustainability, will be chairing the Retrofit & Conservation Panel, leading vital discussions on reimagining existing buildings for a more sustainable future. Ben Oram, Head of Technical, will join the Technical Competency Panel, contributing to the advancement of technical design and delivery within the industry. We’ll be sharing more updates on individual panel events and are looking forward to seeing how their insights help to shape the ideas, policies, and solutions driving London’s future. #NLA #Retrofit #Sustainability #TechnicalExcellence #Architecture #BuckleyGrayYeoman

We recently joined Simten and BAM UK & Ireland on a fascinating visit to Albion Stone plc to select the stone cladding for 20 Giltspur Street, a new commercial development in the City of London. It was great to come away with a deeper understanding of the processes behind this timeless material — from quarrying to craftsmanship. Portland stone, remains a bridge to our shared architectural past, and a sustainable future, and continues to be a defining feature of our work. From 77 Coleman Street to 42 Berners Street and 25 Cannon Street, it has played a vital role in creating distinctive architecture that stands the test of time. We’re excited to see how this material will shape the identity of 20 Giltspur Street while continuing our commitment to creating spaces that celebrate both history and innovation. #Architecture #PortlandStone #Sustainability #CityOfLondon #BuckleyGrayYeoman

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of attending Bisnow’s Real Estate Forecasting for 2025 event – a truly insightful discussion on the challenges and opportunities shaping our industry in the year ahead. From sustainability and asset repositioning to the evolving office market and the growing role of AI in real estate, the topics covered were both thought-provoking and highly relevant to our ongoing work. A huge thank you to Bisnow for organising the event and to Quadrant and Knight Frank for hosting and providing a tour around the wonderful OSMO building in Battersea. Events like these reinforce the value of forward-thinking and long-term planning, particularly as we explore opportunities to diversify into new sectors and markets. #RealEstate #Forecasting2025 #Sustainability #Innovation #BuckleyGrayYeoman

We loved collaborating with Quadrant and Acrylicize on the stunning digital art installation for YY London! #Technobiophilia
Sean BW and Lucy Eades take us behind the scenes of our brand new, ever-changing interactive installation at Canary Wharf’s YY Building. The YY Building, located just outside the bustling Canary Wharf Station, stands as a striking landmark in London’s core financial district. The building aims to attract new tenants through an internal space that offers tangible connections to the world outside. We were commissioned to create a unique installation for the main lobby - a 40-metre-long interactive, programmable lighting rig that responds to real-time changes in the surrounding environment. The piece provides an inviting experience that distinguishes the YY Building in a competitive real estate market, and offers a unique sense of place.
