Olive Lane opens to the community. The new high street at Waverley, Olive Lane, will be open to the community from the start of March.   This is an important milestone in the development of Waverley, Harworth’s flagship regeneration scheme being developed on the site of the former Orgreave Colliery. Olive Lane will be the heart of the growing community and will provide those living and working at Waverley with amenities and spaces to come together.          Harworth has invested in creating a vibrant commercial area which meets local needs. Over the last few years we have worked with our partners including Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council to bring our plans to life.   Tesco will soon be opening its doors, and we’ll be welcoming Specsavers, Little Olives Day Nursery, Hall Court Vets and Karobar Indian Restaurant to Olive Lane in the coming months. Harworth has also funded the development of a GP practice and a community centre, which will be the home of the community council.  There are some commercial units still available for occupation, so we encourage any businesses interested in being based at Waverley to get in touch. At Waverley in South Yorkshire, Harworth is creating a vibrant and sustainable new community on the site of the former Orgreave Colliery.    For nearly 20 years we’ve been transforming this brownfield site into the place it is today – from completing a challenging remediation of the land through to creating over 1,700 homes, a thriving primary school and a world class advanced manufacturing park which is home to industry leaders such as Boeing and McClaren and organisations such as the UK Atomic Energy Authority and the AMRC.   We’re now making fantastic progress in developing the new community hub of Waverley, called Olive Lane. This local centre will be the heart of the development, where residents and those working at the Advanced Manufacturing Park can come together, grab a bite to eat or drink, shop for groceries or use facilities such as the medical centre.    We’re in the process of confirming occupiers for the commercial units within Olive Lane but the potential uses granted under the planning consent include cafes, restaurants or bars, a nursery, a pharmacy, general retail shops and new public realm with outdoor seating and pop-up spaces.    Olive Lane will also be home to a new medical centre, delivered in partnership with NHS England and a community centre to be run by Waverley Community Council.    New, high-quality homes will also be built alongside this community infrastructure by Forge New Homes and Sky-House Co.   Construction at Olive Lane is underway and will be completed by the end of the year, with the commercial units opening early next year. 🏢 Planning permission has been granted for this proposed extension to Victoria Warehouse in Trafford. The extension will create a unique and world-class conference and event space to attract international clients and attendees. CODA Architecture has worked alongside Trafford Council, Drinkwater Architects Ltd, and ecospheric sustainability engineers to develop plans that aim for operational net-zero carbon development and will feature: ⏺️ A contemporary design incorporating Corten steel and a fenestration pattern that relates sensitively to the existing building façade and heritage. ⏺️ An eight-metre-tall glazed roof terrace on the western warehouse. ⏺️ Construction using low-embodied carbon materials, including a cross-laminated timber (CLT) frame structure with trussed beams, providing an internal clear span of over 30m.
