dRMM has been working on research project ‘Building from England’s Woodlands' since 2023, collaborating with NMITE, Edinburgh Napier University, Built Environment - Smarter Transformation and Ecosystems Technologies, and funded by the Timber in Construction Forestry Innovation Fund.     We had an incredibly absorbing day at the close out event hosted by NMITE at the Centre for Alternative Timber Technology on their Skylon campus in Hereford. All the realised projects from this funding stream were there talking about their work: Evolving Forests, CNMI, Architype, Grown in Britain, Cloud Forest and more.   Our project looks at integrating native hardwood species into construction use, and we have been developing a varied set of engineered timber products to reflect the diverse approach to forestry being adopted by the Forestry Commission across England. ‘Building from England’s Woodlands’ was presented by Marlene Cramer, Wojciech Plowas, Benjamin Shirley and dRMM’s Finbar Charleson.Thanks to everyone else involved in the day including Robert Hairstans, Mark Milne and Jonas Lencer.   Watch this space as products, strategies, platforms and guidance from the Fund make their way out into the real world!
