It was a pleasure to support The Erith Group at their Ebbsfleet base last week. We delivered a training session with Green Rhino® on their extensive range of industry-leading smart pollution prevention solutions. Their commitment to protecting the environment with the very best solutions is commendable. We're always happy to support sites in delivering tailored training and toolbox talks with the CMT Innovation & Training Hub - contact your account manager to request a visit today! 🔎 Find your account manager: https://lnkd.in/eYHDvNQP

Recently, we invited members of the Metropolitan Police Commercial Vehicle Unit to our Ebbsfleet base, building on the momentum from the award-winning ‘Transport Professionals Toolbox Talk’ delivered to our HGV driver team in 2024. Officers from the SE London task force, led by Sergeant David Gaston, set up a checkpoint at our exit, despite challenging weather conditions. They inspected Erith HGV vehicles leaving the site to ensure roadworthiness and tested our drivers' knowledge, compliance, and professionalism. The primary goal of this visit was to validate the robustness of our pre-use check procedures and ensure our HGV vehicles are well-maintained. Officers engaged with our drivers to confirm they are properly trained, following the correct procedures, and capable of identifying any vehicle defects that could compromise safety. This exercise underscores our dedication to operating industry-leading construction HGV vehicles, equipped with the latest technology and maintained according to our O Licence commitments. It highlights the skill and professionalism of our driver team, reinforcing our commitment to high standards of training, communication, safety, and sustainability in delivering top-quality service. Sergeant David Gaston praised our fleet and drivers, stating, "Great to be at your site on Tuesday. Must say I was impressed with your fleet and intrigued with the technology that you are testing. Your drivers and fleet were exemplary, looking forward to working together soon." Stuart Accleton, Haulage Director, commented, "This shows a continued commitment by all the Haulage team to ensuring our fleet is maintained and operated to the highest possible standards. To engage with the Metropolitan Police Commercial Vehicle Unit on this event and receive this feedback is something to be proud of." This feedback reflects the dedication and commitment of the entire operational team: drivers, technicians, site staff, service providers, and the Erith management team. #RoadSafety #ErithHaulage #MetropolitanPolice #HGV #Compliance #Sustainability #ExperienceTheExceptional

It's inspiring to see our project and contract partners pushing the boundaries of innovation in deplant and demolition. The stakeholder engagement and meticulous planning for this activity were exemplary. Everyone involved has done an outstanding job, bringing the mechanical work of demolishing the plinths well within the capacity range of our CAT 352 excavators. We've overseen the targeted and specialist explosive demolition of the turbine hall bases at Sizewell A nuclear power station - significantly reducing the timetable for their removal. [Read more - https://shorturl.at/SJdkK] The longstanding structure on the Suffolk decommissioning site was substantially weakened using explosive materials by Nuclear Restoration Services workers. Following a series of enabling regulatory decisions, our inspectors were content to allow this novel and innovative method as part of the demolition of this key building.

When SGN faced a complex and urgent gas leak in a railway embankment in Edinburgh, they called on Erith to provide swift and effective solutions. Our team mobilised at short notice to tackle the project’s significant challenges which included, working under a live railway bridge and on a major road network requiring a full road closure, undertaking deep excavations with shoring and auger operations beneath a live culvert and completing comprehensive reinstatement and surfacing works. This project showcased our ability to deliver both design expertise and physical works under high-pressure circumstances, adaptability to scope changes and ensuring safety and efficiency every step of the way.

Our National Grid site in Great Yarmouth has achieved a perfect score of 45/45 in its Considerate Constructors Scheme audit. This outstanding result showcases the dedication and professionalism of our team. The project, located on Admiralty Road, involves removing an existing tank within a Grade II listed guide frame from 1884. The frame will be retained and refurbished, preserving its iconic status. Our team's commitment to safety, effective training, and environmental awareness was evident during the audit. Excellent communication through letter drops, website updates, and community boards has been key to our success. The project has also supported the local community and economy, with more initiatives planned. Well done to the team for setting a high standard and making a positive impact!

We recently hosted Architectural Technology students from Middlesex University at our 54 The Bishops Avenue site. The visit provided an insightful look into the ongoing work and unique challenges of the project. The project includes site establishment, enabling works like piling, and current substructure construction, with superstructure construction to follow. It also involves complex temporary works to retain a fire-damaged structure and a basement propping scheme. The students were warmly welcomed, given an overview by our project manager, and toured the site. They learned about materials, drainage importance, and challenges of adverse weather. The tour concluded with a crane operations demonstration and a discussion on modern construction complexities. "I wasn’t sure what to expect before visiting the construction site, but once I was there, I found it both exciting and fascinating. It was such an amazing learning experience, and I ended up enjoying it far more than I anticipated. I can’t wait to see the project once it’s completed!" – K. Asllanaj (Year 3) “The whole experience was great, we learnt a lot about the construction process and the measures that take place in these sites. I was impressed by the preparation that goes into the site even before the construction begins and the health and safety protocols showed around the site. This visit really helped me to understand the construction process, and will help in the development of future projects. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience.” – B. Palminha (Year 3) We are proud to support the next generation of architectural technologists and look forward to seeing their future contributions to the industry! #Construction #Education #ArchitecturalTechnology #ExperiencetheExceptional #MiddlesexUniversity #SiteVisit #FutureBuilders
