A-well-a-well-a-well-a-huh!! Meet our new community engagement team for Essex! Mac and Catherine will be travelling the length and breadth of our operating area in Essex in a new vehicle, affectionately named Sandy after Sandon Valley House, our company office near Hanningfield Reservoir. (Tell me more, tell me more...) Mac and Catherine will attend a variety of community events across the area, to talk to customers about smart meters, with more than 105,000 having been installed in Essex already. Smart meters are the fairer way to pay, as customers only pay for the water they use, and they can keep a close eye on how much water they’re using, which also benefits the environment. If you want Sandy, Mac and Catherine to attend your community event, please email; essexengagement@nwl.co.uk. Gary A. Jade Simmonds Kieran Ingram Katie Davis Carly G. Chris Fulton Dominic Butcher

Well this is pretty awesome to see!!! Did you know you can tune into the bat cam 24/7? Thanks Lauren Cosson and Essex Wildlife Trust for sharing
The bat box at Hanningfield Reservoir Nature Discovery Park is getting busier by the day.🦇 They may not be as obvious as golden daffodil displays or a chiffchaff’s unmistakeable song, but these thumb-sized creatures are definitely one of my favourites to see in the spring. Tune in to the bat cam: https://lnkd.in/eqvMNjgm (it’s on 24/7!) Essex Wildlife Trust 💚🦡 Essex & Suffolk Water

A gathering of change-makers, earth-shakers and ground-breakers - we're at Anthropy UK! Kelly Beaver MBE is our final panellist being joined on stage on Friday by Duro Oye and Piers Linney and our own CIO Nigel Watson, as they discuss how Northumbrian Water Group (which includes Essex & Suffolk Water) has used regenerative AI and machine learning to transform complex projects and create environmental and societal benefits. This will help reduce flood impacts, nurture nature, improve economic prosperity and contribute to net zero goals. It's going to be a fascinating discussion. If you're at Anthropy, come and join us on Friday - there are only a few spaces left!

Milestone alert! This is water passing through our brand new £20m, 19.5km pipeline, which will help us to protect customers’ water supplies and the environment in Essex. The shot was taken during testing of the pipeline, which runs between the Layer-de-la-Haye and Langford areas and helps to balance raw water resources in the northern and southern parts of the county. The pipeline is capable of carrying up to 50 million litres of water a day and has been constructed by our in-house team working alongside some of our key supply chain partners including Aquazone Limited and Stantec. Following the installation of additional controls, final testing is planned for later this spring/early summer when work on this vital project will be complete.

It is World Water Day, we felt it important to highlight the work we do to support our environment. This year’s theme is glacier preservation and with 1 in 10 people not having clean water and climate change making it worse, the important balance between environment and clean water has never been more crucial. Here we explain how we can all play a part in the future of the world’s water supply.

We were so pleased to welcome local authorities to our stakeholder event in Ipswich to hear about everything we are doing to manage water supply and demand while also protecting the environment in Suffolk. We have a big challenge ahead of us, especially in Suffolk but across our supply area in Essex, Norfolk and East London, to meet increasing levels of demand, whilst protecting the environment and meeting regulatory requirements. We believe collaborative working is key to finding solutions and arranged this event as the first of a series, in order to build upon those essential working relationships. We also presented our drought planning and had some great conversations! With Kieran Ingram, our Water Director, and Monisha Gower MAPM MIET, our Asset Management Director, amongst other colleagues, on hand to answer questions, we hope it was as useful for those who attended. We are planning more engagement events in the future so if you'd like to be involved, please let us know in the comments below. Hats off to some of our Planning and Scheduling team members, who recently stepped up (literally) to support ‘The Big Essex Charity Walk' 👏 The team walked 26.2 miles from Grays to Southend, last month to raise vital funds and awareness for charitable causes, Blind in Business and Ehlers-Danlos Support UK (EDS) - as part of Thurrock Council's Magic Fall campaign. Our Planning and Performance Manager, Lewis (in the middle) said; "What an extremely tough but rewarding day, walking a marathon with my amazing team." We are extremely proud of our people and committed to supporting them, where we can, in making a difference to good causes across our local communities. Well done to Lewis and his team! 💙 #ProudOfOurPeople

Women in leadership; a session was held in our Essex office at Hanningfield and our Suffolk office in Lowestoft this week, to empower female colleagues to think about their career and progression. Both sessions were a safe space for the women who attended to speak honestly and it resulted in productive discussions about careers, work - life balance and confidence.
