Really pleased to see myself and Mark's research paper being published in the BSER&T Journal following the completion of an exciting project at FairHeat. The paper gives an interesting case study on how to tackle and decarbonise heat networks approaching end of life whilst minimising disruption to normal building operation, through innovative engineering and good collaboration with residents. See details on accessing the paper in Mark's post below 👇
Excited to confirm that the research paper co-authored by my FairHeat colleague Jake Adamson and I, and initially presented at this year's CIBSE technical symposium, has been published in the BSER&T Journal! The paper studies enhancing the performance of current heat networks in anticipation of transitioning to low carbon heat sources. It also includes a detailed case study aligning with the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero's Heat Network Optimisation Guide (HNOG). With technical and zoning regulations being introduced to the heat network sector and the need to improve the efficiency of existing networks, case studies are crucial to illustrate how networks can integrate low carbon heat going forwards. Gareth looking forward to seeing you, and undertaking our first Optimisation Study surveys with Incommunities next week! These will identify quick measures to stabilise any performance/reliability issues, and longer-term plans to lower temperatures and decarbonise - which is particularly relevant in Bradford, with so much heat network development currently underway. With heat network zoning and technical regulations fast approaching, having a clear plan on how to optimise your heat networks and keep ahead of the curve will be crucial. Optimisation studies - which are 100% fully-funded via the Heat Network Efficiency Scheme (HNES) - are the ideal way to spell out the various options available for you to make improvements. If you're looking to optimise your heat network and interested in receiving funding, the next round for applications closes on Friday 8th November. Our team are currently supporting various applications for this - so please get in touch if you require any support 🙂
Great afternoon familiarising myself with and engaging with tenants at two of our sites, set to benefit from Heat Network Efficiency Scheme (HNES) funded optimisation studies, courtesy of FairHeat next week. The keen eyed among you will spot why such studies may be required 🙈

Great to see the Heat Network Efficiency Scheme (HNES) being applied in hospitals, helping the NHS on its journey to Net Zero by 2040! At FairHeat, we’re proud to support hospitals in the London Borough of Camden and the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in optimising their heat networks, securing over £250,000 in revenue and capital grant funding and undertaking optimisation studies to drive these improvements. This funding will help make a lasting impact by increasing efficiency and reducing carbon emissions. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/e-EJr7bu #heatnetworks #districtheating #optimisation #grantfunding #hnes #healthcare #netzero #decarbonisation #performanceimprovement #carbonreduction
How can heat networks help transform the NHS on its journey to Net Zero by 2040? In our new blog, we explore how HNES-funded improvements to existing NHS networks can play a part in this transition. Funding that unlocks major performance upgrades is vital to strengthen the case for heat network expansion across the NHS. By ensuring existing infrastructure is up to standard, this can act as an exemplar for other trusts looking to reduce and decarbonise their energy use. Explore how HNES can be a key stepping stone to reducing the health service’s carbon emissions: https://lnkd.in/e-EJr7bu #Funding #EnergyTransition #NHS
