Last year at Edinburgh Park the park management team started to implement some biodiversity projects across the Park. With the help of WSP Ecology, who are based at Edinburgh Park, areas of the amenity landscape were surveyed and laid to native grass meadows with wildflowers. We went back this summer to inspect these endeavours and it was amazing to see the little changes to previously 'neutral' areas of close clipped lawns. They had established into meadows with increased diversity in plant life and attractiveness to butterflies, moths, insects and bees. Success? Absolutely. 👍 Adaption? yes, we will slightly tweak the seed mix in 2025. 🌻 Biodiversity Net Gain? Unquestionably. 🌲 Great exercise to be part of with Edinburgh Park Management Limited and the Edinburgh Park Team. Here's to more success and BNG in 2025. #EdinburghPark #Biodiversity #Ecology #WildflowerMeadow #NativePlants #BiodiversityNetGain #ConservationEfforts #UrbanEcology

Today is #WorldMentalHealthDay – a day to spread awareness and acceptance of mental wellness. 👍 Back in 2020, having been challenged by Stephen Osbourne from Atelier Ten to 'Talk about mental health openly as a team.' we invited the psychotherapist and clinical hypnotherapist Gin Lalli to give everyone a series of ‘lunch & learn’ relaxed educational sessions. Thanks Gin Lalli BSc HPD DSFH, for providing us with tools to 'empty our stress bucket' and pursue good mental health - we still follow this guidance as a team today! Check out our blog describing how the sessions on brain science and much more impacted HarrisonStevens as a team: https://lnkd.in/e738p9fm 'If you can understand the science behind how the brain works, then you can understand the issues that surround mental health.' - Gin Lalli #WorldMentalHealthDay #EmptyYourStressBucket #BrainScience #HarrisonStevens #LandscapeArchitecture

HarrisonStevens are pleased to put a shout out for our colleagues Masha, Roxana, Tom and Sam as they embark on their Pathway to Chartership, becoming chartered members of the Landscape Institute. All four have made the first steps and registered on the Pathway, a journey which over the next few months and years will give them boundless confidence and professionalism. We are happy to support them on their career path which has had a varied base – from landscape architect courses, post and under grad, and architecture degrees and PHD studies over several years. We applaud your dedication and know it will lead to great success – we are with you all the way! #PathwayToChartership #CharteredLandscapeArchitects #TeamSuccess #ProfessionalDevelopment #ColleagueAppreciation

Our colleague Debbie attended the 'Next Steps for Biodiversity and Nature Protection in Scotland' webinar last week. The conference, chaired by Edward Mountain and Sarah Boyack MSP, focused on the state of Scotland’s biodiversity. It was discussed that there is a direct correlation between global warming and biodiversity loss; the hotter it gets, the less biodiversity there is and a decrease in species. There has been a 15% species decline in recent years, which represents a loss of national significance. The conference went on to discuss the drivers for biodiversity loss, how we can address harmful practices, and promote nature-based solutions. 30x30 is a key target for Scotland – protecting 30% of the land and water by 2030. At HS+ we are passionate about helping to reach these targets! #BiodiversityScotland #NatureProtection #GlobalWarmingEffects #SpeciesDecline #BiodiversityLoss #NatureBasedSolutions
