Our Reading office is delighted to have secured planning permissions for Phases 2a and 2b of the South Wokingham Strategic Development Location, on behalf of Kingacre Estates, Miller Homes Ltd and Kier Property. We promoted the Site and first secured its allocation in the Wokingham Borough Core Strategy in 2010. The developments will see the construction of 1,649 homes, two new Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspaces, a primary school, Local Centre, significant areas of public open space and play areas, as well as a new distributor road to be delivered by Wokingham Borough Council. We have been busy working with the Council to discharge conditions, with the Phase 2b Masterplan, Design Code and Landscape Design Statement now also approved. Nexus Planning is also working on the first Reserved Matters applications for multiple parcels within the development. Well done team 🎉 Roger Tustain Matt Harris Connor Shingler Stefania Petrosino Daniel Sharp Image credit: AAP Architecture and Pegasus Design #NewHomes #AffordableHomes #StrategicLand #WeAreNexus

Celebrating International Women’s Day Today, we come together to celebrate the incredible women who shape our industry and our business. International Women’s Day is not just a moment of recognition, but also a call to action and reminder to all that equality, opportunity, and respect should be available to all. At Nexus Planning, we are committed to creating an inclusive environment where talent thrives, regardless of gender. Who better to share a few words on this day than one of our Regional Directors, Heather Lindley-Clapp ‘There’s no pretending that the property industry still isn’t quite as diverse as we’d like, and there certainly aren’t enough women in senior roles. This is gradually changing, and I’m pleased to see how so many companies champion their important female staff. Thankfully, my colleagues at Nexus have supported my growth to my current role as a Director, not only providing the environment for me to progress as a planner and a manager, but also to have that flexibility to ensure I have an appropriate work-life balance to help with my young kids at home. There is a real opportunity for my brilliant colleagues in the company to continue their own growth with the support of Nexus, and I hope to see the property world continue to diversify outside of Nexus too’. Join us in recognising the contributions of women everywhere not just today, but every day. #IWD2025 #InternationalWomensDay #Inclusion #Diversity #WomenInPlanning #WeAreNexus

We’ve been part of something pretty major recently! We helped win an appeal for the development of 95 assisted living units and a 75-bed care home in Buckinghamshire, after satisfying the new ‘golden rules’ for development in the green belt. The successful appeal - made on behalf of Beechcroft Developments - makes the care community one of the first major housing schemes permitted at appeal since the NPPF last December. Our Manchester office is delighted to have helped secure full planning permission across two brownfield sites in Salford for the construction of 25 affordable homes for the Council’s local housing company Dérive, including single homelessness accommodation. With over 5,000 households on the city’s housing register and over 6,000 homeless presentations made to the Council in 2023-24, the proposals provide a valuable contribution in assisting the Council address this affordability crisis and commitment to provide good quality, affordable homes for those in need of such accommodation across the city. In light of National Apprenticeship Week, Amine Djelladj, who is currently at Nexus Planning as apprentice, reflects on his journey into the field and details how his experience has been during the last three years. The piece also summarises his dissertation which evaluated whether the planning system, in its current state, contains sufficient checks and balances to prevent political influences shaping the built environment.
