Construction has started on site at 72 Upper Ground, the former ITV headquarters located on London’s South Bank. In collaboration with Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd. and CO-RE London, we've designed a mixed-use scheme combining retail, restaurants and workplace with a new cultural centre at its heart. The project will transform the 2.5-acre site to provide a high-quality, strategic workplace destination in Central London. It represents a £700 million investment in the UK by Mitsubishi Estate, supporting over 4,000 jobs and delivering essential employment in Lambeth in step with the wider UK growth agenda. Completion is targeted for 2029. 🔗Read the full write-up: https://lnkd.in/e5UEwEm7

𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗴𝗼 𝘂𝗽. 40 Leadenhall is one of the largest projects ever to receive planning permission in the City of London – able to accommodate 10,000 workers. When you’re delivering a massive building on a constrained city centre site, there’s no room for error. Its MEP services were assembled not once, but three times, resolving any issues well before the physical installation. First virtually in a single digital model that was co-created by the whole project team and included all of our structural engineering too. Then almost all of the plant was prefabricated, assembled and tested, before being transported to site for installation. https://lnkd.in/eG5z6W8v #WSPProjects #MEP #StructuralEngineering WSP in the UK

[1/4] The Power of Spontaneous Interactions 🔍 Are we designing workplaces for what people really need? As highlighted in Financial Times / The Irish Times by Anjli Raval, the office of the future must support collaboration and spontaneous interactions—things virtual environments struggle to replicate, as noted by Gianpiero Petriglieri. But what if virtual mediums could actually help foster creativity and community across geographies? This is exactly what my colleagues and I at Make Architects, Environmental Psychology Research Group, University of Surrey, ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences are researching. Would love to hear your thoughts! 👇 Financial Times article: https://lnkd.in/d-egsU4U (paywall) Irish Times article: https://lnkd.in/d-7EjtAG (accessible) #FutureOfWork #WorkplaceStrategy #Collaboration #WorkplaceDesign #SpontaneousInteractions The Verge, Iain Shorthose, Tim Hamilton, Alex Heath (Photo by Make Architects)

20 and 22 Ropemaker Street demonstrates the value of collaborative and forward-thinking design; the culmination of an eight-year journey with Old Park Lane Management, CO-RE London and Skanska to deliver a Grade A workplace prioritising legacy, wellbeing and sustainability. Hear from project lead Frank Filskow on the challenges and opportunities that came with designing a building for the future below. #FourwithCORE #20and22ropemaker #tallbuildings #makearchitects
Standing 25 storeys high in the City of London, Ropemaker was completed in 2024. It’s thought to be one of the tallest stone-clad constructions to be created in London since St Paul’s Cathedral was built in 1675. We spoke to Frank Filskow partner at Make Architects about how he worked with CO-RE and Old Park Lane Management to create Ropemaker. A building that focuses on prioritising the wellbeing of its occupiers, Frank explains how this has been achieved, including achieving a BREEAM 2018 ‘Outstanding’ rating.
