It was such a treat to be invited along to this building visit. It’s clear that the client and the contractor have learned a great deal and I’m so grateful that they both wanted to share that. Mesh Architects (AECB) Association for Environment Conscious Building Passivhaus Trust
Passive House update… AECB members site visit. Our aim from the start of this project was to share, highlight and explain the design philosophy, construction methods and materials for the fundamental principles required to achieve Passive House standards. With a view to help get more in our industry involved in Environment Conscious Design & Building. This afternoon we opened up the site to AECB members to give a tour, explain the design philosophy and airtightness strategy. Hosted by Michael Gration Chris Iredale from FiveRise Contractors and Roger Stannard Jonathan Lindh from LEDA, the project architect. Both companies are (AECB) Association for Environment Conscious Building members. The house has just achieved its first airtightness test, achieving an impressive 0.3ACH@50pa! The target for Passive House certification is 0.6 or below. This was a great opportunity to see how Passivhaus standard airtightness works and what's required to achieve levels of airtightness as the taping, membranes and timber frame structure and airtight boards are visible prior to first fix. We also talked about the owners vision for this project, our shared passion for Passivhaus and our approach to training and up-skilling our workforce to deliver the rigorous Passivhaus requirements. We were kept on our toes with many questions and debates about PH and Retrofit - we loved it! Special thanks to Adam Harper for organising this visit. It was great to see other AECB members who clearly share our passion too and will help us all build a more sustainable future - thank you for taking the time to visit us! Deisgned by LEDA - Certified B Corp - Certified B Corp - architects Roger Stannard Jonathan Lindh to passive house building standards that are truly energy efficient, comfortable, and affordable at the same time. Please follow our page as we’ll be posting regular updates of the build to highlight and explain the design, construction, materials and fundamental principles required to achieve Passive House standards.
